It's OK To Be A Loner

I'm a bit of a loner, but that's fine with me.

Socially Awkward. Loner. Homebody. Just some of the words that people seem to start to notice about me when they get to know me a little better. Back then it used to bother me that I'm not like any other girls. But, I value being alone or better yet staying at home rather than going out a lot. Don't get me wrong I have friends and I love them all to death, but I like to keep my circle tight at all times and I value my "me" time. And if you can relate you'll know exactly what I'm talking about:

1. Social Gatherings.

Whether it be a family event or any type of social events can be a good thing for us or a bad thing. I know for a fact that when I get a little overwhelmed, you'll see me retreat in my little space to just collect myself. I mean don't me wrong I love to have fun but sometimes enough is enough.

2. Getting roasted.

I guess you can say that I'm a little boring from time to time. And sometimes my friends will roast me about it and that's OK... I'm completely fine with how I am.

3. Netflix is your baby.

At this point in time, I'm running out of shows to binge watch on Netflix and it's the legit struggle.

4. My major motivates me to be a home buddy.

Being a nursing major is hard. From back to back exams and quizzes, it makes going out or doing anything such a struggle because you have that anxiety inside of you that you just NEED to get your stuff done.

5. SLEEP

I mean who doesn't like sleep?

6. Counting on myself.

If there's anything I learned more about my loner personality, is that at the end of the day you can only count on yourself. I'm sure there are other people that you also count on but they also have things they have to do and a life to live. So gotta learn how to count on yourself.

7. I have friends.

Just because I prefer to do my own thing and being a "loner", doesn't mean that I'm totally anti-social and I hate everyone. I care a whole lot about my friends, family, and even people I may not know that well.

So if you're just like me, don't feel bad. Embrace who you really are and own it!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
