This goes out to all the adults in their early or mid 20's confused about what life is supposed to be. After talking to my good friend who is turning 22 soon, I realized that I am not the only one scared and unsure of what I want to do. Being in your early or mid 20's is probably the scariest and awkward times (besides being 13) in someone's life. We all think that everyone around us knows exactly what they're are doing and what their career is going to be, but in reality it's all a lie.
As we all walk around campus to class or get up for work in the morning, we think to ourselves "She looks so put together, I bet she knows what she's doing" but is that really the truth? No. We sure want to look put together and seem as though we have our life all set, but we are all on the same page. Look, you might have an idea of what you want to do--we all do--but that doesn't mean we stop at that. Growing as an adult or student means that we are constantly changing our plans, goals, and ideas of what we want. Trust me, I have constantly said that I wanted to go into fashion, then I started becoming a writer (not professionally), then maybe journalism--but what about visual merchandise? I have changed my major just about every year of college, maybe even every semester, because I was so confused and had no idea what I enjoyed learning about.
Despite what you studied or are studying in college, odds are you are not going to that career. I mean, you could, but various people, even celebrities, have studied subjects in school that have little to do with what they are doing now. Even Adele went off the market because she was figuring herself out, and that's totally okay, because she came back. For "Grey's Anatomy" lovers, Dr. Avery first started out as a math teacher but now he's a celebrity (I'd really like to know how that happened).
Don't panic if you are 23 or graduating college and have little to no idea what you're doing. Even though the girl at Starbucks on her computer drinking coffee looks like a million bucks, she is probably feeling the same way you are and might even be looking for a job. Heck, my mom tells me al the time that she isn't quite sure what she wants to do. She currently works for a pharmaceutical company but wants to do food decoration. But as she always told me "Fake it til you Make it".
