It seems like when mid to late February rolls around everyone is breaking up because it’s the start of anti-cuffing season.
It's finally after all of the holiday parties and New Year’s when your significant other doesn’t feel so bad if your relationship ends because school is now back in session and he/she wants to rejoin all of their single friends. No more cozying up by the fire, and making hot cocoa on a cold winter night. The warmer weather really makes your significant other put into perspective how much they miss being single and not worrying about anyone except themselves. The season seems to last until about May which is after spring break, but right before summer so then you will be able to do cute activities with your new bae. Spring break is a prime time to find a new bae for summer with all the beach parties and late night partying. You are bound to run into a new hottie just before you get back to school.
Now, I am not saying this happens to everyone, but being in a sorority with about a hundred members I see a lot of relationships blossom and fade away in the blink of an eye. Looking at your own life, I am sure you could name a few friends who are going through a breakup or are just getting over one. It never seems to fail that, around late February, people are breaking up left and right. Before I know it, I feel like I can get my Doctorate in Psychology for the dozens and dozens of therapy sessions I’ve held in my room for all of my friends. I’m sure we have all received a text or two from a friend asking why their boyfriend/girlfriend is acting so distant lately. No one has all the answers, some relationships just come to an end, but that doesn’t mean better things can’t fall together.
So go talk to that cute guy in your physics class or say “hi” to the hottie in line at Starbucks. You never know who you can meet and where you will meet them. There are so many people in this world that you haven’t even met yet. Life is full of amazing and wonderful surprises, so just move on to the next one.
