It's Not You, And It's Not Me, I'm Just In College

College is the best and most stressful time of my life; so I'm going to keep doing me.

College has probably been the best years of my life so far. You're in that weird in between of being an adult, but not yet because your still a student and only work part-time.

We all can relate and see the struggle of balancing a part-time job, school work, a social life, and trying to stay physically fit, but then you try to add a romantic relationship into the mix? For me it almost feels impossible.

College is the transition into adulthood and preparing you for your career, and that is what my biggest concern is; not if I have a partner at the end of the day. I'm looking at the future to become successful in my field and I am very dedicated. So when I say it's not you, it REALLY isn't you; I'm just focused on gaining as much knowledge in college to make me thrive once I graduate. Knowledge is the most powerful thing you can gain and I plan to make the most of it while at college.

And when I say it's not me, it's REALLY not me. I'm ultimately focused on my education and developing my personal growth.

You can discover your personal growth through gaining freedom at college. This is the time when you are able to break free from your parents and experience as much as you can. I have learned so many things while away at college and have met so many great people that I now have friends for a lifetime. If you do find yourself in a romantic relationship, that's great too, but for me balancing all of the activities and classes I'm involved with, there is just not enough time in the day. The relationships I've built throughout college are friendships and business connections and those are the important relationships I should build while attending school.

College is just a stepping stone into the real world, but it is a very large step. It's important to know your worth and love yourself before anyone else and college has given me that opportunity.

In essence, college has given me the experiences to become the best version of myself and I am truly grateful and happy. You can't search for someone to make you happy; only you can with the environment you surround yourself with. As of right now my environment is college and it has given me the freedom and education to be, think, speak, and feel whatever I want. And I will continue this mindset after college to be independent, have fun, and do what's right for me.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
