It's Not You, And It's Not Him

We all have had the day where we are walking to class and we are nervous about the upcoming tests. We close our lockers, look up, and it hits you.As you are looking up, the man of your dreams is looking right at you as he walks down the hall to the same classroom you two have shared since freshman year. You slowly catch your breath and slow your heart rate down as you look away. You never imagined when you would see someone who would make your heart race just by the look of him.

I, too, have been in the same situation.

There are many thoughts the cross your mind "Has he noticed me since freshman year? Does he think that I’m really pretty? Does he have a girlfriend? How do I try to get him to notice me without seeming too forward?"

I’m here to try and clear the air when it comes to the minds of men. All men are different, in fact some of them can’t really be classified as men when it comes to their goals and personality traits. I have three different reasons why a man could not be into you:

  • He is only looking at you because you happened to be in his line of sight.

It could be as simple as that.Men will sometimes only look up at women because they noticed something that is beside or behind you. Don’t take it to heart, as Chad Eastham says in his book, “the truth about dating” men are only able to talk or look at one thing at a time and all of their attention is focused on one item.If you are wanting to switch topics you have to be patient in order for them to switch “compartments” if you will in order to pay attention to you.

  • He only wants to hang out with you because he wants to just be your friend.

This can be heartbreaking if you think the world of him at first sight. Love at first sight can be misleading to some girls who think they can get any man they want. Don’t worry, there are plenty of other men in the world that would be worth your time, but don’t forget to take your time and enjoy your time hanging out with them without any limits or obligations.Try not to let your feelings get in the way when you’re simply getting to know them.Guys and girls are able to become best friends without the friendships being torn apart.I have three guys who I am best friends with and I have no worries with any of them.

  • He’s simply not ready for a relationship right now

Not every man that you come in contact with is emotionally, mentally or physically ready to have a relationship right now.No matter how insanely gorgeous he may be, or where he’s at in life, he may not want to add another commitment in his life at this point in time.Patience is a virtue.Keep in mind that you’re not the only girl that’s in his life.

I hope that these three ways help you better understand how to deal with men who are hard to understand.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
