It's not too late to spend time with Jesus. In fact, right now is the most opportune moment - there is no time like the present!
James 4:13-15 Now listen, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money." Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, "If it is the Lord's will, we will live and do this or that."
We are not promised our next breath - Lord, thank you for your very presence in your creation, that you allow me to live, even right now!
This particular late night, I was waiting for my siblings to get home. I listened to praise music, colored, and did all but read my Bible, which is something I try to do before bed. But, if I know none of the other things were fulfilling in my waiting, why did I not run into the arms of the only ONE who satisfies my every need?
"We crave deep intimacy with Jesus; and we are most alive and free when we realize and pursue it." - Scotty Smith
I say to Him, "You are my all," but my actions contradict my words. A Hillsong lyric reads, "He's not moved by perfection or how well we look the part." My favorite part of this song is the beginning, "Tired, broken, scared, or just in need, ready or not, it's alright, take your time, if nothing else just come."
As Ecclesiates 3:1 reads, "for everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven." There is a time to be like Martha, a time to serve the Lord, and a time to be like Mary, and listen to the Lord. (Luke 10:38-42) v. 39 "And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet and listened to his teaching." Mary's posture was sitting at the Lord's feet, and her action was listening. We ought to sit in a posture at our Lord's feet, actively listening to His teaching. v. 41-42 "But the Lord answered her, 'Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her."
Jesus wants us to know Him, as we know any other. He is jealous for us to know Him, and He waits for Y O U!
- Our troubles are wiped away around Him (Phil 4:7; Matthew 11:25-30).
We hold on to our worries + don't give them up. We like control BUT we aren't masters!
- Don't do God's job for Him. Let HIM take care of you! He just wants you to come.
But in order to serve the Lord, spending time with Him is most important, so that He may teach you and tell you the desires of His heart. "The best thing you can give to others is your intimacy with Jesus". Before He asks you to act, He says, "come". Are you listening?
