With the election and later inauguration of our new president, many have felt a wide array of emotions. They may have felt helpless, worthless, even invisible. As an African American woman of the LGBT community, even I have felt more anxious in the past couple of months. I remember watching the polls on election day while on the phone with a friend. When it ended and Trump's icon was at the top with all the Republican Red, I almost instantly cried, having to hang up and call my mom for support. The reality is, we are the people of the United States. All of us: the African Americans, the Mexicans, the LGBT folk, the non neurotypical folk, the mentally retarded, the autistic, the disabled - physically and emotionally - we are all people of America. Right now, we have a president and almost the entire cabinet under him thinking that we are not, and that is not okay. It is our God given right to protest when we are lead by a president who denies and belittles the people of his country that aren't caucasian cisgendered men. We have the right to speak our minds, and although many won't like it, although many will call us niggers or faggots, spicks or retards, we must continue on. This is not the end of America because we the people still have work to do. So come on. Let's get it done.
