We want it. We want it so bad.
The warmth.
The spice.
The sweaters.
The boots.
We want fall, we're begging for it, and it's not here. Sure calendar wise September 22nd wanted to push fall onto us but she is no slave. Autumn arrives when she pleases and in the south she ain't pleased. I'm still sweating on a walk to class, downing a glass of iced tea, and rocking the norts. In the spirit of "fall" I've decided to imagine all the good things to come and put it out into the world. Maybe, just then, Autumn will grace us with her presence.
Sweaters.
They're big and baggy, comfy and cozy, what is not to love? We can forget the summer bod and start eating for our winter hibernation. Nothing says happiness like being bundled in a sweater, hot cocoa in hand, and binge watching Netflix.
Outside.
Lets be real, we're all true indoor couch potatoes. But when the cool wind blows and leaves start to fall there is no place better than in the outdoors. Something about fall makes me want to be outside...maybe the fact I wouldn't die of heat exhaustion or drown in a pool of my own sweat...but you know what I mean!
Seasonal Drinks.
Knock knock. Whose there?
Not pumpkin spice latte. I actually hate pumpkin. But you know what I do love, hot chocolate! Specifically peppermint hot chocolate. It makes my inside feel like Christmas and leaves me minty-cocoa fresh.
Sniffles.
Even the best of things have their flaws. Fall sneaks up on your sinuses, your throat, your head, and your immune system is compromised. Grab the tissues and vitamin C, don't let the sniffles ruin this joyous time in our lives.
The Holiday Spirit.
I don't know what it is or why but people seem happier around this time, the holiday spirit gets in us all. Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas it's the time of year for seasonal over load and people love it. Strangers smile more, family gets together, friends are found in company often, and we all want someone special to snuggle up to. The holiday spirit really makes fall.
SO, maybe lady Autumn is taking her time making her true debut to the south. But maybe she's just smart and knows all good things are worth waiting for. Keep the sweaters near by, get your picnic blankets ready, heat up the hot cocoa, pop that Vitamin C, and bring on the most wonderful time of the year. Welcome Autumn joyfully when she arrives.
