Whatever nationality you are, whatever country you were born in, whatever religion you profess, whatever culture you follow, it doesn’t matter what you will become in the future. Your past doesn’t have to determine who you will become. It doesn’t matter if you are rich or poor, if you are Christian or Buddhist, if you live in the Eastern part of the world or in the West, your origins won’t and mustn’t interfere with your dreams and your achievements.
The author Donna Levine said in one of her inspirational poems:
“There is inside you all of the potential to be whatever you want to be, all of the energy to do whatever you want to do.”
That’s the secret to following your dream! During your life, many people will interfere or will let you down, and will tell you that you are unable to reach it, or that it will be impossible. In this case, never listen to anyone who lets you down but on the contrary those who encourage you. Be consistent to follow your dream and to reach what makes you happy!
What is more important is the voyage you take, the path you follow rather than where you reach, and what you become. The person at the end of the path is the union of your changes, of your experiences, of your failures, of your victories and of your satisfactions.
After arriving to your destination in life, to your professional goal, never forget your origins, never forget where you came from, never forget your home town and especially your family and the people who have always supported you and believed in you.
At the end, somehow you become what you wanted to, you reached your dream. For sure you have to thank yourself, but you have to thank the people who have always believed in you, without them you haven’t become the person you are, you haven’t reached what you wanted for so long, you haven’t lived in that country, working and doing the job you have always desired.
“It isn't where you came from; it's where you're going that counts.” It’s such an inspirational quote that even Ella Fitzgerald, an important jazz singer stated. It’s one of the best quotes that has such a powerful meaning. Each of us should save this in our brain as a meaningful memory to bring up when you have doubts about your life and if you are disoriented. An African Proverb says the same thing “Remember where you came from so that you know where you are going.” And it’s true, never forget your origins, because it is:
Thanks to whom you were once, that you are the valuable person that counts today.
