It's A New Year, But It'll Be A Better Me

It all starts with believing in yourself.

It's A New Year, But It'll Be A Better Me

With the start of a new year comes one of my least favorite phrases, "New Year, New Me." My Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat all feature stories/resolutions about what my followers/friends are going to change for the new year. While some forms of change can be good, it's not always a necessity.

Let me just start here, you rock!!

You are the only person out there like you! You are so rare and special and I bet half the time you try to convince yourself otherwise. Well, don't. Don't because there is nothing wrong with who you are.

We were each born with different gifts and that's why our world is so interesting. Being different means you have unique characteristics to bring to the table that another person might not.

It's OK not to be good at everything. No one is perfect, so the faster we all start acknowledging that, the more accepting our world will be.

So rather than changing who you already are, work on making yourself better.

If you want to buy a gym membership to live a healthier lifestyle, do it! But don't buy a gym membership because society and social media are telling you you aren't the "ideal" size.

Find things that bring you joy and DO THEM! Focus on being the best version of yourself--not changing who you are. Remember-- you matter; you're important; and you're loved.

Say no to "New Year, New Me," and start "New Year, But Better Me."

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
