It's Never Too Late To Take Life By The Hand And Run With It

To me, a joyful life is refusing to settle for a lifestyle that doesn't suit you in favor of consciously finding the relationships, job, and credo that fits you best.

In case you haven't realized it by now, you get one life to live on this gorgeous planet.

Uno. One. That's it. Sorry, but there are no second chances.

So, how are you spending your one life?

Overwhelmed? Bored? Stressed? Busy? Unhappy? Ungrateful? Stagnant?

Today, I challenge you to stop. Pause. Breathe. Take a break. Think.

Take a moment to evaluate your life, your habits, your friendships, your hobbies, your work, and your passions.

Then, ask yourself this simple question:

Are you satisfied?

Are you truly content?

Is your life fulfilling?

Do you fully enjoy every moment of your existence, from sunrise until bedtime, 24 hours a day, seven days a week?

If yes, then I commend you for finding inner peace and satisfaction within your life. I am truly so happy for you, and I encourage you to write a book or produce a documentary so that everyone can benefit from learning your secret.

But if not, I challenge you to change your present state of living. Remember that you're the only one who can do this, so take heart. You owe it to yourself to make the absolute best of every single beautiful moment that you are privileged with living.

Think about it like this:

Is there a point to this life if you live your days in an unsatisfying manner? If you let others dictate how and when you spend your precious moments? If you float along mindlessly, unconscious of where your time and money and attention has gone over the course of your life?

Personally, I don't see much value in living that way.

I mean, how can you even say that you are living if you don't have a voice in your own life? Furthermore, why would you allow someone else's idea of the "perfect life" to control the tract of your own life?

To me, a joyful life is one that is spent with purpose, intention, careful thought, and a thirst for adventure.

It's an endless quest to find the beauty and joy within every single moment. It's refusing to settle for a lifestyle that doesn't suit you in favor of consciously finding the relationships, job, and way of living that fits you best.

So please, don't settle. Don't stagnate. You're never too old or too young to live with all of your heart, all hours of the day, for all of your existence.

Live in the moment and love the journey. You owe it to yourself.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
