It's easy to focus on the bad stuff, but it's important to notice the good stuff, too, because what you think about, you bring about. Here are some little things to say thank you for today.

1. When you take a sip of coffee and it's the perfect temperature and coffee-to-cream ratio.

2. Those old shoes that fit better than any other pair ever have or ever will

3. A full tank of gas

4. Free shipping

5. Saying something in class that impresses your professor

6. Getting that email you've been waiting for

7. Waking up and finding that your hair looks okay enough to go out in public

8. A front row parking spot

9. When someone else does the dishes

10. Sweaters with pockets

11. Dresses with pockets

12. Finding money in your pockets

13. Getting mail

14. Speedy wi-fi

15. When you try to be funny and people actually laugh

16. When the light changes from red to green just as you approach the intersection and don't have to slow down

17. Actually feeling prepared to take a test/quiz

18. Crossing things off your to-do list

19. 100% battery on your phone

20. The feeling of putting on your pajamas after a shower and laying in bed with a book and a cup of tea. Although now that I say this, I feel like I'm the only one who actually does this

21. Actually having something interesting to say when an ice-breaker requires you to say an interesting fact about yourself

22. Seeing a dog. Or a cat. Or basically any animal that isn't a squirrel or a bird.

23. Re-discovering an old Spotify playlist that you love

24. Finally being able to breathe through your nose after having a cold

25. Potatoes

26. Netflix

27. Watching Netflix whilst eating potatoes

28. Bread

29. Eating bread and potatoes whilst watching Netflix

30. When restaurants, stores, etc play good music

31. Water. That's important

32. The excitement and fear of a software update

33. When you take off your shoes and your feet don't smell bad

34. Buying something on sale

35. When you don't get charged for something because the server messed up your order

36. The feeling of weight on your sternum when you listen to intense music

37. When the printer works flawlessly

38. Reconnecting with an old friend and feeling that no time has passed

39. Getting 10,000 steps

40. Seeing plants, cats, or dreamcatchers in windows

41. Buying new pens (I love pens)

42. When the next season of your favorite TV show premieres

43. The fact that there is a Starbucks on campus

44. That feeling of importance when a friend comes to you for advice

45. Having just enough room on the page to fit all your notes

46. Deep conversations over a long dinner

47. When the toaster does its job correctly

48. That very short period of time after cleaning when everything is in its spot and your room looks it could maybe be in a magazine

49. When something that has been under construction for forever is finally finished

50. Planting a seed in a cup of dirt and watching it sprout (that wasn't supposed to be a metaphor or something, I truly enjoy this experience)

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
