What's so great about being a Patriot?
I mean, every school has it's own distinctions, but what makes George Mason so special?
Take it from me, a student. It's a legitimate contender for the best school ever.
1. Food
One of the greatest things about this school is the food. The dining options for this school are unmatched compared to other schools that I have toured or heard about. Just to give you all an idea, there are two Starbucks, two Einstein Bros Bagels, Peet's Coffee, Panda Express, and best of all, Panera Bread, and many many many more options. They also have three dining halls, one of which is open 24 hours. They have a wide variety of options for people who are vegans, vegetarians, have food allergies, or just like to eat healthy. Beyond great dining options, Mason has a program called Bonus Bucks, and while it's totally optional, the school gives you the option to pay for $100, $300, or $500 Bonus Bucks that you can use at any dining facility on campus. It's like a pre-paid credit card, it really comes in handy.
2. Housing
Here at GMU, the housing is definitely better than the typical, dingy, closet, college dorms you hear about leading up to your time in college. There are three student neighborhoods on campus, Rappahannock (aka The Commons), Shenandoah (Presidents Park), and the Aquia Neighborhood. The school also offers student apartments on campus and townhouses, which are just 1/8th of a mile away from the school. Every room comes furnished, and you receive free WiFi and cable. It's pretty tempting.
3. Lifestyle
George Mason has so much to offer regarding college life. It's because of the foundation of diversity within the student body. There are people from all over the world, and people who have every interest imaginable. This makes for a really colorful campus, and lifestyle for students here, because the diversity in people is transferred into different clubs, different events, etc. There are over 350 clubs here at Mason, along with 38 letter organizations. There is something for everyone. I'll give you an example. I am a History major and I love anything and everything that has to do with History. I didn't think that they would have a History club at this school, but sure enough they did.
4. Sports
It is no secret that George Mason is known for its basketball. But beyond basketball, George Mason also has so many other school sports including track and field, baseball, and swimming. They also have club sports and intramural sports. So whether you like to participate or just watch, GMU is where it's at.
