I know I'm not alone when I say there have been numerous times I have found myself lusting after things I don't have, or becoming jealous of other women who have what seems to be the ideal body, or high end possessions.
While I love a name brand and getting all dolled up, I've learned lately how important it is to truly embrace who I am for what I am and what I do have, rather than the things I don't.
Anybody can have the same jeans or the same purse, a certain haircut and color or even take the same pictures as I do, and vice versa, but no one can be me. There is one version of you and that is something no one can take away or copy and paste. 23 chromosomes go into our makeup of who we are genetically, and a life time of events and situations makeup who we are emotionally and intellectually. There are always gonna be things that you can do that others can't, just as there may be something you can't do that others can, but we don't need to seek validation through other people or materialistic things that in the end won't benefit us much anyways. Our validation comes from God, and were reminded of that in Luke 12:7.
"Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don't be afraid you are worth more than many sparrows."
God knows the count of hair on our head, along with the plans he has for each of us individually, and I can guarantee that that plan is not to try and be like anyone but Jesus. This is something I plan to remind myself of daily this year, and hopefully you will too. SO be you, be weird and don't worry about what others think, live your life the way you want to, laugh at inappropriate times and surround yourself with the kind of people who constantly remind you of who you are, and how special that is.
