Despite the temperature being higher than my last quiz grade, its officially October which means it is now acceptable to shout “It’s fall y’all” to justify absolutely everything fall related.

Thank you October for your bountiful gifts:

  1. Wearing boots - This includes any height, color or style so throw on your black suede booties and strut your happy autumn self.
  2. Carving pumpkins - Pumpkin patchesare officially open for business which makes it great for a fun Saturday activity with your friends, family or your significant other.
  3. Pumpkin seeds - A personal favorite, which goes hand in hand with carving the pumpkins because as soon as you’re done gutting out your plump orange friend you can cook the pumpkin seeds. You just have to separate the seeds, wash them, put them on a baking sheet with some olive oil and sea salt and you have yourself the perfect afternoon snack, guaranteed to last you the whole month.
  4. Flannels - Wear them over your t-shirt for the cooler nights and wrap them around your waist during the sunny afternoons, plus they’re super trendy. Does an article of clothing get any more perfect?
  5. Seasonal drinks - Of course you have your pumpkin spliced lattes, but you also have your pumpkin spiced tea, your apple cinnamon tea, your apple cider, chai tea. Everything is spiced, and everything is right with the world
  6. Dunkin Donuts pumpkin donuts - Need I say more?
  7. Wool socks and snuggles - Now is your time ladies to get those tumblr worthy pics of you in your snuggly socks with your pile of blankets and hot tea in a mug that says “warm & cozy” and yes that’s what I’m doing right now.
  8. Beanies - Because everyone looks adorable in a beanie but mostly because it means one less day I have to wash my hair.
  9. Scarves - Not the functional ones you use in winter, the cute light ones that you can only actually wear in the beginning of fall.
  10. Sweatshirt on sweatshirts on sweatshirts
  11. Candles - If it wasn’t a complete fire hazard I would have 57 fall candles lit in my room at this very moment.
  12. Crunchy leaves as you walk - You know what I’m talking about.
  13. Less humidity means happy hair and happy face.
  14. Bonfires - Finally something to do with each other on the weekends that doesn’t cost a dime.
  15. The goods - By this I mean the baked goods: apple pie, pumpkin bread, pumpkin pie, snicker doodles, need I go on?
  16. Halloween movies - I love to be scared so I’m all about the horror movies, but also about the Halloweentown, Hocus Pocus and Casper the Friendly Ghost (but only the one with Hilary Duff).
  17. Halloween decorations - The scarier the better and yes, Party City is life right now.
  18. Halloween costumes - Coordinating outfits with friends is so much better than going it alone and making your own costume is also so much better than buying one made.
  19. Halloween - If you can still pass for a middle schooler I highly suggest taking advantage of the free candy offered in your nearest neighborhood, and if you cant pass for 12, wear a mask.
  20. Corn mazes and haunted houses - If you haven’t been, you need to go. Get a group together and stick together because some of most harmful looking haunted houses are the scariest

And that’s all folks, happy haunting, and happy fall y’all!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
