Welcome to the second half of the second semester ladies and gentlemen, where school becomes a little less important and brunch becomes everything. The food becomes irrelevant and the drinks are the main aspect that everyone seems to be craving. Get ready to clean off those Ray Bans and check your bank statements, because welcome to "Brunch Season."
1. Farmers Fishers Bakers
At this waterfront brunch location you won't encounter a farmer, fisher, or a baker, but what you may come across are the bizarre entertainments that always seem to circulate around the waterfront restaurants. From students swan diving into the questionably clean Potomac to street performers, you'll never be bored if you choose to brunch here.
2. Mr. Smith's
Welcome to the ultimate brunching experience for college students. Whether you're worried about the size of your party or your wallet seems terribly light, fret no more, this is the place for you. If your ID doesn't resemble you or if the information is practically written in crayon, don't worry, it won't be a problem. At this fine establishment, there are two floors and a menu that comes all inclusive with bottomless mimosas...or should I say a bottle of champagne with a drop of OJ. #MR (you know)
3. Old Glory
Although football season has come and gone, this is still the most favored sports bar on M Street. As soon as you enter this two-floor bar, all noises and internal thoughts will be drowned out with the overlapping volume of the numerous TVs lining the walls. There has yet to be a correct term for the environment in the back of the second floor, so let's just declare that it's not inside nor is it outside. The drinks are pretty standard at this joint, but if you're more concerned about a hearty meal to guide you home then this may be the spot to keep you mentally present...or maybe not.
4. L'Enfant Café and Bar: La Boum Brunch
Oui! Oui! That's all this French place is going to leave you saying once you experience one of their critically acclaimed brunches known as "La Boum Brunch": Google-translated to "The Party Brunch". At La Boum Brunch, the waiters hold trays of specialty shots while circulating through groups of people and table dancers, in a scene that will surely recall your earlier clubbing days. Did I mention there's a live DJ?
5. Bodega Spanish Tapas & Lounge
Conveniently located on the notorious M Street, the Spanish style cuisine and drinks at Bodega momentarily transport you out of this country. With a refreshing switch from the classic mimosa and the Eggs Benedict to a sangria and small tapas, you may contemplate taking Spanish as your language requirement.
6. Clyde's
Another M Street favorite, Clyde's never ceases to disappoint their customers. Whether you're trying to be appropriate around your parents or you're trying to have a genuine sit-down meal, Clyde's is the spot for you. It is a traditional dining/brunch spot, that will leave you wanting more.
7. Hank's Oyster Bar
Can't find delicious seafood in DC? Look no further. This abnormally large raw bar boasts some of the best clams, lobster rolls and oysters in all of DC. If Mother Nature is feeling rather kind on your brunch occasion, you can sit happily outside and fully immerse yourself in the DC atmosphere.
8. Le Diplomate
Back at it again with the French cuisine! Le Diplomate is a fun yet classy brunch spot in Logan Circle, made up from floor to wall with beautifully colored tiles that may set an illusion on your eyes (with the consumption of too many Ventoux Rouges).
