It's A Bad Day, Not A Bad Life

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11

It's A Bad Day, Not A Bad Life

Our bad days come—they are inevitable—sometimes coming more often than we would like. At times it can feel like you're world is going to soon come crashing down. I'm here to tell you that it's not! One day does not define your life or play a determining role into how your life will pan out.

My Grandpa always used to tell me that things are always better in the morning, and they are. Your day is 24 hours long, that's all. Then you go to bed (for a few hours if you are lucky) and you wake up in the morning, and you get a fresh opportunity to start a brand new day. However you are the person to decide how the day goes. Somethings may happen in life that are not always as we plan. But how we react to them is what is important. You have to strive to see beauty in all that you do in a day. You need to choose happiness when sadness and anger are tugging at you.

In the Bible, it is written 365 times "do not be afraid." It is a daily reminder from God to live fearlessly and a reminder that He is guiding you. God has a plan for every single one of his children, including you! You may not see it now, but everything that the Lord is placing in your path; every obstacle, every person he removes, every blessing, is there for a reason. God gives His hardest battles to his toughest soldiers. He knows you and knows what you are capable of, so when He gives you a challenge, or a rough day it's for a reason. He knows that you are going to learn something from it and is placing it there for you to grow. He has a way of closing one door that you maybe weren't ready to get rid of, just to open another one that is better then the last. Where you are today is all for a reason. This day that you think is bad, is here on purpose. It was placed upon you, to shape you and form you into the person that God wants you to be.

So when you are having a bad day and nothing seems to be going right, take a step back and breathe. And realize that it is just one day, and there are so many more to come. This one day was given to you for a reason, so make sure that you take something valuable out of it.

Every day that you wake up is a new day to grow as a person, and whether it be good or bad, we have the opportunity to learn a little bit more about ourselves in a new day. So there are no such things as bad days, you may think it but all you need to do is put your trust in God and know that He is directing your path every step of the way.

Because it's not a bad day or a bad life. In fact, every day that you wake up alive is an amazing day and the opportunity to grow as a person to who God wants you to be.

"With every sunrise we have the opportunity to become a better version of ourselves."

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
