If I’m Stranded On An Island Here Are 5 Things I Can’t Go Without

I bet you can't guess them - wink wink.

Have you ever thought about what it would be like to live a secluded life on an island like a lonely lonesome human being? If so, has the thought ever occurred to you of what you'd want there with you object-wise?

While I know 5 things isn't a lot, it can go a far way if you wish for the right things.

If I had to live on a single island for the rest of my life and I could have 5 things with me, these are what I'd take with me.

1. My cell phone.

Whoop, there it is. Bet you couldn't guess that one, or that it would be #1, did ya?

My cell phone - unfortunately - has basically my entire life on it. Whether I like it or not, I rely on it for so much more than I should. Every day, I can't go anywhere or do anything unless I have my phone on me or in my hand.

If I had it with me, I could at least call, text, and FaceTime people from a distance. At least there's some form of communication so that I don't go completely insane all alone. At least I could still have social media and interact with those far from me.

2. Cell phone charger.

Above all else, if I want to have a working cell phone, I'm gonna need its charger. If there's a metaphorical wall plug or computer for me to plug my phone into, then I'd need a charger so that I can use it.

This may seem like an easy one, but if you had to put yourself into this exact situation and immediately chose to have your phone with you but not your phone's charger, you'd be rendered useless. Most people don't think to wish for a charger.

3. A blanket.

I get cold so easily as it is whether the weather is cooler or not. I'm never without a blanket anyway, so I figure if I'm gonna be stranded, I'd want one so that I can at least stay warm wherever I am. It would give me something to snuggle with and even use as a pillow during the day for naps.

4. A pair of closed-toed shoes.

As comfortable as sandals and flip-flops can be to wear for leisure, I'd prefer to have a pair of closed-toed shoes because - well - you never know what you'll encounter. I could step on a sharp shell, a sand crab, a piece of glass, anything. I'm too uncomfortable to put my bare feet into the sand as it is, or even wade into the water without knowing what awaits me. If I had a single pair of closed-toed shoes, I'd be set for life. Just as long as they're guaranteed to last me and won't fall apart.

5. My iPad.

This is probably not the one you were expecting to see as #5.

My iPad doesn't get used enough since I have a MacBook Pro, but I'd want to be able to have something to watch my Netflix on; assuming the island has free wifi all of the time.

I like to live stream my YouTube, Netflix, and Hulu so that I can watch reality T.V. and my favorite shows that aren't airing anymore on channel T.V. I'd need something to watch it all on, and my computer just isn't the same as my iPad. With this, I can at least feel more at leisure and not like I have a 500-word article to type once a week.

Think about it - if this were you, what would you do? How would you initially react? Would you be okay living this type of lifestyle?

On the bright side, there wouldn't be a day in your life where you'd have to work or go to class or do any schoolwork. Must be nice.

Apart from that, would you be able to confidently take this life on?

Just let that sink in.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
