It Takes Strength To Show Emotion

Your feelings should not have to be validated.

Emotional is, unfortunately, characterized as someone who is overly sensitive, a basket case, an overly dramatic person. Some people tend to wear their heart on their sleeve. Others are cold and insensitive to the emotions, feelings, thoughts of those around them. Being emotional is never something anyone should have to apologize for. Think of it like this, someone who is emotional feels everything so deeply, especially compassion. They have a heart of gold, despite the constant criticism for letting how they feel flow out of their eyes and mouths like a hurricane.

A person who feels so deeply can also be the most loving and caring person you will ever met. They know true pain, and knowing true pain makes them build others up, wanting to help them not feel the pain that they have. They appreciate the little things, such as just feeling the warmth of the sun in the morning after a night that was drowned in tears. They hear the laughter of a small child, feel the embrace of a loved one, and in that moment, nothing could be better. They feel so safe and secure.

We live in a society that has conformed to being cold, not having feelings, using one another. It's heartbreaking to know that there are some human beings that honestly believe not showing emotion or feeling is the hip or rad thing to do these days. It's not a sign of strength, it's a sign of holding too many grudges and resentment within you. There's nothing wrong with using your voice and letting how you feel show, because that's what this world needs more of, people showing more compassion. I know a lot of people turn cold after being hurt so much, but just know this, do not let this world make you bitter when it can actually be so beautiful. While your past wounds are valid, don't keep yourself from giving them a chance to heal.

With all of this being said, if you feel like you feel too much, or if you almost incapable of feeling at all, please keep this in mind. Emotion is beautiful. Not being in control is beautiful. Your heart, no matter how big or guarded it may be is beautiful. Never apologize for being emotional, never let anyone invalidate how you feel. Your emotions matter. Don't be afraid to break down because that's where the healing begins.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.
