It Pays To Pay Attention To The Details

As a student studying abroad in Paris, France, traveling is a constant activity. Since the city is located in near proximity to so many other countries, it doesn't take a lot of complications and effort to tour through one place to the next... Unless, of course, you make a mistake throughout your travel planning.

Of course, things don't always go as planned, and when that happens, it sucks beyond belief.

There I was, with my hopefully-under-22-lb suitcase lagging behind me and my Longchamp bag weighing down my shoulder, stepping off the metro after being on it for sixteen stops, when I took out my ticket and saw the details.

The first word that came to mind? Definitely not a pretty one.

Unfortunately, in the rush of excitement of traveling to a different country, in this case, London, England, I mixed up the dates when I was booking my ticket and accidentally got one for the next night. Which, after the measures taken to get there - about eleven flights of stairs with my all of my things and finally being able to book possibly one of the best hostels in London - was so incredibly aggravating.

Now, I usually go a little crazy when it comes to attention to detail. Not even kidding, I was that one girl working the fitting rooms in Abercrombie and Fitch who actually buttoned up every single button and zipped up every single zipper to make sure that everything looked nice and floor-ready. And yes, I did re-design my blog about a million times before deciding that it was good enough - my sister can attest to that.

But who knows what I'll think next month? Or even next week?

After this unpleasant experience, it became obvious to me just how important attention to detail was. Who cares if I'm a little psycho about it? It gets the job done!

So, lesson learned: Feel free to go a little psycho sometimes about the details - it definitely pays to pay attention!

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
