From crying several times throughout the movie, to obsessing over a animated robot, Big Hero 6 is a classic in my eyes. I’ve never seen a movie from Disney like Big Hero 6. It teaches kids how to cope with death, how to deal with your emotions, and how put others before yourself.
You wouldn’t think an animated movie affect someone this way so much, but it has. To start off, a major motif in this movie is death. The first death mentioned is of Hiro and Tadashi’s parents. The viewers are left wondering what happened to his parents, but he only says that they died when he was three and ended the topic of his parents. Then of course, the death of Tadashi is a major part of the whole plot, it makes Hiro go after the villain and ultimately avenge his brother. When Tadashi dies, not only makes me ball my eyes out everytime, but it’s angers me because his brother basically died for nothing… however, we will discuss this later. There is also the death of Abigail Callaghan which makes Robert Callaghan lose his cool and go off to be the villain he thought he should be. Death in this movie moves both of the characters, Hiro and Callaghan, to avenge their lost ones in negatives but then they realize that to achieve what they want, they have to do it the right way. The only death that was in vain was Baymax’s. Baymax risked his own life to save Hiro and Abigail. This movie tries to teach our youth how just because something negative happened to you, like death, doesn’t mean you put others at risk as well, you should remember that person for who they were and the good they brought into this world.
I love this movie so much for making me happy, angry, and sad. This movie can have you crying one moment to laughing the next. Tadashi’s death makes me both cry and feel angry. It is sad that Hiro lost the only left immediate family member however, Tadashi death was caused by trying to save a man who was selfish and saved himself. It makes me furious because Tadashi could’ve played an active role in Hiro’s future, but his life was ended trying to save a man who only wanted revenge in his life over his daughter. The memory of Tadashi didn’t end though because Baymax came into the picture. Baymax not only helped save the world from the oppression of Callaghan, but he saved multiple people's lives. Baymax also showed Hiro that “Tadashi is here” through a multiple videos of his testing Baymax (cue the waterworks). Baymax played a unique role in making people cry to making them laugh until they cry. From being a giant marshmallow-like robot who couldn’t run to trying to taking Hiro’s every word literally, Baymax is the ray of sunshine a movie with a plot so dark needed. Without Baymax Hiro would have been stuck in a rut and Callaghan could've easily killed more people.
Big Hero 6, in my opinion, is one of the best movie’s Disney has ever released. It has important life lessons of death and how to deal with those emotions. It is also a witty and funny movie, which is important because of the underlying dark plot of the movie. But, I think the best reason to watch this movie, or obsess over it, is because of Baymax. I think everyone in the world should get their own personal Baymax because he is so kind and adorable. I guess this is the end of the article but I have one last question ,”Are you satisfied with your care?”
