It Is Okay To Be An Outsider Of The Modern Trends

What is the whole point in individuality if we all want the same thing?

Every one is different when it comes to modern trends, but we can all agree we love at least one modern trend going on in our world. For example, I am OBSESSED with Tumblr. No matter where I am I will be on Tumblr. However, there are pop culture trends that are disgusting and I will never do or try for as long as I live! I bet all of you have something that is awful to you beyond belief, you are probably thinking of it right now! What you should know is that it is okay to hate something that everyone loves!

Being an outsider to the latest style in social media, makeup, or even TV shows are nothing to be ashamed of. And if someone judges you because of it, they are not real friends! If you hate Game of Thrones, you hate Game of Thrones! If you do not like wearing contour and highlighters in your makeup, that's fine! Just because your friends or your family loves something that is very up-to-date and you see it everywhere does not mean you should force yourself to love it also.

I grew up with a friend group that told me that I had to love this and love that. It was only a lot later did I learn it is okay to not love having different colored hair that is in right now or reading those magazines that tell me what I should wear this week because it is the trending outfit. What is the whole point in individuality if we all want the same thing?

We always talk about how we want to be distinct in our surroundings. So why do we let the media depict the mania of what to wear, what to watch, and what to do? We should be able to like or not like whatever we want with no judgment or force upon us. I am sure all of you agree with me that we all hate being told what to do. So why is liking or not liking a trend being forced upon us?

If you want to follow all the fashion trends and watch all the best selling movies because a magazine or newspaper told you so, go right a head! No one is stopping you. But you should not feel pressured to love something. It will not make you cool, it will not make you hip, and it will not change your life in the long run. If it does, then you are an awesome human being like every beautiful person on this Earth.

Keep it into consideration that no one will love what you love and will hate what you hate. In fact, you have a best friend that hates what you are obsessively in love with. Not everything is about looks, and knowledge on new trending things. I hate to say it but we will get older and those trends will soon die out and now you will look like the so-last-year trend. Be yourself, and love what you love and do not be afraid to show it!

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
