I am a firm believer in that it is never too late to do anything. I don’t care if you are 92 years old or 22 years old, as long as you are alive, you have the entire world at your fingertips. It’s an amazing thing to consider, really, just think about it. Think about how lucky we are, every single one of us, that we have the opportunity to do all we aspire to do and to be whomever we desire to be. The easy part is agreeing to the idea of this. The hard part is actually physically doing something about it.
When you were growing up, who did you want to be? Are you where you want to be today?
Of course, as children, we dream up ideas of how we think we will want our futures to be, and then over the years we continually change our minds. It is all a part of the beauty of growing up and finding ourselves. It is inevitable. As a little girl, I think I wanted to be everything - a teacher, a writer, a singer, a painter, a photographer, and then just plain old “famous”. I daydreamed and talked about it for days on end, but did I do anything about it?
The thing my mother taught me and what I hope to instill in others is that life is too short to settle. Especially for those who are growing up in this generation, we have so many more options. We can go to school and further our education. We can start our own business by promoting our work through social media. There is so much room for us to explore ourselves by trying out new things, or even re-visiting aspirations we had as children.
You are limitless. Yes, if you want to think practically, there will be some limitations that could get in the way, but there are challenges that come along with anything. We have the power to make the necessary changes in our lives to feel confident within our present. I know that for myself, I don’t want to look back on my life and wonder why I didn’t go for something. Even if I don’t succeed in half of the things I do, at least I’ll know that I tried.
Go back in time. Picture yourself as a child. Try and imagine your future the way you did when you were young. Didn’t everything feel so attainable? It doesn’t have to be any different today. I don’t care who you are, where you come from, or why you are where you are today, you are more than capable of becoming who you always wanted to be. Life is full of hardships and really low valleys, but we are all capable of reaching our highest potential. Nothing is impossible if you practice dedication. And if you are feeling lost or in a place of discomfort, know that you can get out of this, and end up ten times better than you had originally anticipated.
Take a leap of faith. I dare you. You just never know what you might be missing out on until you step out of your comfort zone and see things from a different perspective for once. You don't want to have to look back and recall everything you could have, should have, or would have done differently. Do it now, for this moment is all we have.
