Being a part of ISU's Photo Club this year means more responsibility but for the sake of excellent photography students! I decided to interview one of my Exec Board members about this upcoming year and some awesome opportunities people will have if they visit once or come to every meeting!

The following conversation is between me and Tate Skinner.

Me: "Hi Tate. So let me start off by asking you what your role is in the ISU Photography Club?"

Tate: "I am currently the Vice President for Photo Club. Most of what I do is event planning and making sure that our events run smoothly. I also have input on other aspects of what we do."

Me: "That's great, I am excited and very glad that you are the V.P.

My next question is: What are you most excited about for our club?"

Tate:"I am excited for the portraiture demo coming up in September. We are trying out a lot of new things this year as well so I'm ready to see how they play out."

Me: "I am very excited about that too. Doing portrait photography is a great skill to have, you have such great access into getting close and personal with people in order to get these amazing shots and I think you have a great eye for that so I'll be happy to take pointers from you.

My third question is: "What would you say to people to get them to participate in our club this year?"

Tate: "Our club is really welcoming to people of all skill levels and we definitely have some great events planned this year. I think the club is a great opportunity to expand your knowledge of photography and meet other great artists. I know for me it's been a great networking opportunity and has helped me find friends on campus."

Me: "I agree 100%, I have found some awesome friends, like you, in this club (or in class prior to the club) and I am very excited to meet more. I really want to see what other people can do so we can teach, learn, and share with them."

My last question for you is: "What is your favorite part of photography?"

Tate: "My favorite part about photography is being able to create something that conveys emotion or tells a story. Art is also something I do for myself."

Me: "I love that. Thank you. I'm really glad I was able to get a mini-interview from you in order to represent our club in such a positive way. I really hope people want to join this year because I know it will be awesome. Thank you, again."

We will be at Festival ISU in a booth so watch out for us! If you want/need more information, don't be afraid to reach out. I want to see your art, I want to see what you can do. So show me, and I will show you.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Everybody gets sick once in a while, but getting sick while in college is the absolute worst. You're away from home and your mom who can take care of you and all you really want to do is just be in your own bed. You feel like you will have never-ending classwork to catch up on if you miss class, so you end up going sick and then it just takes longer to get better. Being sick in college is really tough and definitely not a fun experience. Here are the 15 stages that everyone ends up going through when they are sick at college.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
