Imagine waking up to the sound of sirens and knowing that even more bombings await you.
This is what has been occurring throughout Israel and Gaza for the past couple of weeks. Families have been torn apart and several lives have been lost. This tragic occurrence should be put to a halt very soon.
There has been the hashtag on Twitter and Facebook followed by, “Israel Under Fire." Israel has been under
attack by Gaza for the past week, and Gaza isn’t backing down. Having so many close friends of the Jewish faith; this breaks my heart that the people of Israel
are going through such an ordeal. Looking through Twitter, and all the photos
and posts of the struggles and pain the people are facing, breaks my heart. It should not matter what religion you are, or you're race. These are
innocent people getting injured and killed for no good reason.
The purpose of launching this campaign is to, once again, spread awareness of what is happening in Israel, in hopes that #IsraelUnderFire
will make the world aware of the true hardships the people of Israel are facing. Most media outlets
are not covering the importance of this topic.
According to CNN and Anderson Cooper 360, Barack Obama spoke to the Israeli prime minister, on Thursday, July 10, and
told him that they have a right to defend themselves against Gaza. So far, Israel has called up 30,000
reserves according to the Israeli Defense Force. This will allow Israel to mobilize a ground
defensive system in a very quick manner. In just one night, Israel hit 100
targets and at least 80 Palestinians have been killed, including 22 children.
CNN has also sent their senior international correspondent, Ben Wedeman, to cover this dispute between Gaza and Israel. When he was
on Anderson Cooper 360, reporting from Gaza, he showed video clips of
the bombings and attacks that have been occurring in both countries.
With the help from the United States, and all of Israel’s troops, they are doing their best to fight off Gaza and keep their
country safe. Hopefully, Israel and all of its people stay safe, and this dispute between Israel and Gaza will soon come to an end.
