It's complicated, but everything and anything we could ever want, is right in front of our eyes. We get so caught up in the minute to minute aspects of our lives, that we forget to look around once in a while. For example, I was lucky enough to have an opportunity to attend the University of St. Thomas; to seek a degree and grow as an individual. I constantly remind myself that, right now, is the beginning of the rest of my life. So why wouldn't you squeeze every last thing you can out of the opportunities that present themselves, right now? I remind myself because sometimes I forget why I am here, and even that I'm here. Life gets so busy at times that you simply lose track of yourself.
Our minds are wired to point out the bad things. We always say, or subconsciously think, "Wow, I had a bad day". But was it really that bad just because you got a "C" on your test? Or you rolled your ankle? Or, maybe you got a parking ticket? It's easy to dwell on that one negative occurrence. But, what about all the things that went well for you today? Your car started, didn't it? Your lights turn on, didn't they? Your food is cold in still the refrigerator when you get home, isn't it? The fact is, positives almost always outweigh the negatives. But if you let negativity linger in your subconscious mind, you'll simply be swimming upstream. The world we live in has shaped the norms to magnify trivial misfortunes. Your thoughts have a direct impact on your future. Refurbishing the negativity into positivity goes a long way. Try to go a whole day, or even an hour, thinking explicitly about the positive things happening around you. It'll change your perspective. Bottom line is, recognize the pros, and dump the cons; because if anything, the cons are there to teach you a lesson.
Yesterday was what created your resume for today. So, how are you going to continue adding to that resume, right now? I mean, everything is right in front of us. What if that opportunity isn't there tomorrow? With only positive thoughts, consider what you can control right now, and then you will understand why I said so.
