A season that's not to forget, but to learn from the mistakes made and to do better next time.
A season that would've crumbled if not for the Europa League victory against Ajax. A season where the Reds are lucky to achieve a Champions League spot while finishing sixth place in the Premier League.
United never looked like a team that would win convincingly this season, bar the Europa League performances. It struggled at times, which reminded some of the past seasons. That said, it never gave up, which is why the season wasn't as bad as others would say it was.
Jose Mourinho didn't fail in his first season, but he didn't do wonders either. It's remarkable that fans hadn't grasped the fact that Sir Alex has retired, and luckily Mourinho seems to be the one to remind them that it's time to move on.
After the club had known that a Europa League victory would grant them a Champions League pass, it became obvious that Mourinho would only care about the tournament since it looked like more of a challenge to achieve a 4th place in the Premier League.
Highlights of the season would have to be the Europa League win, Zlatan's 28 goals in all competitions, and the EFL Cup victory against Southampton.

With the CL spot in place, what's not to say Mourinho won't buy the likes of Griezmann or Varane?
A CL spot means United are back among Europe's elite, and the Reds mean business. Mourinho has always had the ambition and they will put their foot on the gas to compete in this tournament.
Now the task for United has to be to compete again at the highest level, be among the likes of Barcelona, Madrid, and Bayern. It won't be easy, but if there's one
