Is The Election Really Over?
LATEST ELECTION POLLS 2016

Former POTUS candidate Jill Stein is raising money for a recount in three different states. Yes, a recount. The Green Paty believes that the integrity of automated voting processes in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania could have potentially been compromised by Russian hackers. Which seems absurd, but I guess anything is possible. Could a recount go in Clinton's favor? The answer is yes. Folks, the election is not over yet. *insert groan here*

At the end of election night, Trump was victorious with 306 electoral college votes and Clinton had 232. Wisconsin counts for 10 electoral college votes, Pennsylvania counts for 20, and Michigan never declared who officially won their state but with how the figures looked on election night, Trump won their state. For Clinton to win this recount 46 votes would have to shift, leaving her with 278 votes and Trump with 260. The votes in these states were incredibly tight, and that is why trump is capable of winning. Wisconsin had Trump’s victory with just a 0.7 percent margin, in Pennsylvania, he was the victor by 1.2 percent, and in Michigan, the gap is a very thin at 0.3 percent. This means a swing of votes numbering just the tens of thousands would be enough to change the result of the election entirely.

Clinton's team has announced that it will participate in the Wisconsin recount to ensure fairness. Trump called the effort a "scam" aimed at filling the Green Party's "coffers." If you follow posts on social media, you would have seen President Elect Trump go on a tirade, in one of the tweets, he said he would have won the popular vote if it hadn't been for those who voted illegally. Maybe I am out of the loop somehow, but don't you have to have proof you are registered? Trump is also accusing the Green Party of staging the recount to "fill up their coffers" and condemning Clinton for reneging on her election night concession and promise to accept the results.

Ms. Stein admits that the recounts will not likely alter this election's outcome. "These recounts are part of an election integrity movement to attempt to shine a light on just how untrustworthy the US election system is," she wrote on her website.

I guess all we can do is sit and wait to see what the outcome is, and then just maybe the election will really be over.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
