Is "Perfection" Really Perfect?

But you're perfect to me

Is "Perfection" Really Perfect?

In today's society, us as women feel the constant need to be perfect, whether it be grades, hair, body, sports, or personality. An issue that has been around for a while is that teens believe they need to starve themselves and compare their body to someone else's. A young girl can look at a magazine and say, "I wish I looked like that," or "I need to never eat again" and this needs to stop, NOW.

Men and women both struggle with this insecurity. I personally believe, and I might not be the only one, our society is encouraging this negative behavior to such young girls and boys. Why do we let ourselves disgrace our bodies that God gave us? Instead of letting us judge one another by our body types, we should accept all the good qualities someone possesses.

While it's good to stay up to date with the trends, we don't need to change who we are to "fit in." There is a lot to pressure to change who you are in today's society. While others are talking about the newest makeup trend or their new diet, think to yourself, "Do I really need to do this too?" Yes, there needs to be a change. There needs to be a change in how we treat each others and definitely how we treat ourselves.

Who cares if you're not as thin as the girl in the magazine? And who really cares what others think about you? Life shouldn't be about being perfect. What is the true definition of perfect anyways? Everyone has their own standards that they should live by. Instead of comparing yourself to others, start loving yourself for who you are.

11 Things All Call Center Workers Can Empathize With Better Than Anyone
Youtube

This semester I started my journey as a member of my University's Alumni Outreach Team. This means a lot of things, but primarily it means that I get to make phone calls to parents and alumni two nights a week to update contact information, collect things like business cards and volunteer hours, and even ask for money.
