Is Leadership Overrated?

The answer depends on how you define leadership. Incidentally, there are over 50 different definitions of the term, some of which go in completely different directions.

"Stand at the top to serve, not to rule!"

"A good general is as good as half an army."

"You cannot teach values, you can only practice them."

"If you want to control others, you have to control yourself."

"Those who cannot love people are unable to guide them."

Your definition of leadership is the yardstick by which you can measure yourself. It determines whether you see yourself as a leader and how good you are at it.

What is leadership

For me personally, leadership means leading myself first. Sometimes that sounds a bit old-fashioned because I am authentically behind what I do. By "doing something" I mean an action in which I am congruent with myself. For example, I have switched my diet to "vegan" for a few months now. This is exactly where my self-guidance begins. Nevertheless, I sometimes reach my limits. For example, the barbecues with neighbors when my kids slice the sausage or our family celebrations that would not take place without meat. Only once did I eat milk chocolate that I got as a gift. Honestly, it tasted delicious and I enjoyed it. In other words, failure can happen.

In the course of my time as a manager, I have been led and managed myself. I encountered a lot of strange things about the topic of "leading". For example manipulation, lies, charisma, fear, trust, aggression and absence. Well, no one is perfect. The bottom line is that everyone joins in, nobody says anything, but everyone seems to know somehow that something is wrong.

Since my time as a trainer, it has been more about leading groups, coaching managers and advising my clients. In these different contexts, I am dealing with group dynamics, expert status, and trust. By the way, the question "Do you like to be led by others as a manager?", Found most managers in my seminars creepy. In short, only about 20% of executives had a positive opinion about "having leadership".

WHICH LEADERSHIP CHARACTERISTICS SHOULD OWN TRAINERS HAVE?

Managing trainees is an exciting and interesting task that requires your time. Good knowledge of people and social skills are the building blocks for successfully leading trainees. In any case, trainers should use motivational training methods, conduct difficult conversations professionally, assess trainees fairly and conduct them professionally. What can you do best as an instructor?

  • Endure criticism
  • recognize your own limits
  • Take initiative
  • judge fairly
  • act independently
  • proceed according to plan
  • help others
  • act safely
  • people skills
  • empathy
  • Practice tolerance
  • proceed with determination
  • explain clearly

WHICH LEADERSHIP ROLES HAVE TRAINERS?

After all, trainers take on a managerial role and a lot of responsibility at the same time. In short, the requirements of an instructor are very extensive. This shows the different identities and roles that an instructor has at the same time.

THE TRAINER AS A SPECIALIST IN HIS AREA.

Sound specialist knowledge is undoubtedly the basis for the training activity. Therefore, trainers must always be up to date. That means constantly training. However, being a first-class specialist is often not enough to teach young adults in the respective field. Leadership training programs is one of the fastest ways to learn leadership qualities

ONLY A TEACHING TRAINER IS A GOOD TRAINER.

They need to know how to impart their specialist knowledge and which methods they can use for which purposes. Accordingly, methodological competence is required. He should have methods for skills such as the 4-step method, methods for behavior changes of trainees and methods for self-determined learning, such as can use the lead text method. Rhetorical skills are also required for a goal-oriented apprenticeship interview. Finally, it is also about the trainer's didactic skills. For example, when asked: What type of learning is my trainee?

To My Loving Boyfriend,

  • Thank you for all that you do for me
  • Thank you for working through disagreements with me
  • Thank you for always supporting me
  • I appreciate you more than words can express
  • You have helped me grow and become a better person
  • I can't wait to see where life takes us next
  • I promise to cherish every moment with you
  • Thank you for being my best friend and confidante
  • I love you and everything you do

To start off, here's something I don't say nearly enough: thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You do so much for me that I can't even put into words how much I appreciate everything you do - and have done - for me over the course of our relationship so far. While every couple has their fair share of tiffs and disagreements, thank you for getting through all of them with me and making us a better couple at the other end. With any argument, we don't just throw in the towel and say we're done, but we work towards a solution that puts us in a greater place each day. Thank you for always working with me and never giving up on us.

Ah, yes, good old Hauppauge. We are that town in the dead center of Long Island that barely anyone knows how to pronounce unless they're from the town itself or live in a nearby area. Hauppauge is home to people of all kinds. We always have new families joining the community but honestly, the majority of the town is filled with people who never leave (high school alumni) and elders who have raised their kids here. Around the town, there are some just some landmarks and places that only the people of Hauppauge will ever understand the importance or even the annoyance of.
