Is it weird that in less than three weeks, college students will be back at school starting on their second semester of school? Is it weird to actually miss college? I am here to tell you that the answer to both of these questions is a no.
Winter break was bound to come to an end soon, plus in two months we will all be back home for spring break, so just like first semester, we have to push through the equivalent of two months and strive for the best. To some people, their winter break was productive with work and catching up with old friends while to others, it was time to catch up on "me time" or to catch up on forgotten sleep because of the time that was spent on preparing for finals and actually taking them.
As for missing college, this could be taken multiple ways, but I'm just going to talk about two: missing colleges as just being there and the bonds that you had made at college. From my opinion, a lot of students like the idea of being on their own and having that sense of independence to do whatever they want. Being on campus is the time they get to have this type of feeling. Either that or they think that they just need to get away from family again. The other reason, being on break means that you are separated from the beautiful friendships that you made at school. The friends that you made probably don't even live in the same city or state as you, so you have to wait for a whole month, or when the summer comes three, to see them again which is kind of sad.
Along the lines of your friends, you start to miss your roommate and your sorority/fraternity. While there are so many friends that you miss back at home, you also miss your friends/family back at school. Missing them is probably the one, if not the number one reason, why some college students are starting to get ready, if not already, to go back to school; to catch up on those friendships. Possibly you are in a relationship with someone that you can only see when you are at college, so to be able to go back to college soon to see him/her brings a warm feeling to your chest.
In the end, it's okay to be ready to go back to college. Even though you won't be in your old room, having everything to yourself if you don't share a room back at home, or if you're not living in a singles' dorm, being around restaurants that aren't in the city that you reside in or the fact of having a semi-functioning sleep schedule, but that's the life of a college student and we sometimes have to go through it to succeed.
As the winter break comes to an end, I hope everyone had an amazing break!
