It's Time To See Through The Political Smoke

Is it all an illusion?

It's Time To See Through The Political Smoke
Jamie Bodiford

Is it all just an illusion? The Republican party brings to light so many unethical, immoral, and disturbing lies told on the part of our Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. We've heard about the emails, we've heard about ISIS, we've heard about Hattie. Now we are hearing specific prominent people come forward, such as Bob Creamer, founder of the Democracy Partners, which is a consulting group hired by the DNC along with Scott Foval, who is a national field director at Americans United for Change. Essentially, what we are hearing in this undercover documentary told from their mouths directly, isthe trickle down effect. The DNC hires outside consulting groups like the Democracy Partners, who then hires outside affiliates like Scott Foval with Americans United for Change, who in turn hire specific people sent inside these rallies to stir up particular groups who will ignite others to a volatile state.

It was explained by Scott Foval as being a common and completely controlled occurrence, all on the originating part of the DNC, going as far as to recall many specific examples, such as the 69-year-old woman who was assaulted at a Trump rally by a Trump supporter. This was, in fact, a story that received much headway for days. Scott Foval recants the events, "she was one of our activists... who had been trained up to birddog. So the term birddogging, you put people in the line, at the front, which means they have to get there at 6 o'clock in the morning because they have to get in front of the rally, so that when Trump comes down the rope line they're the ones asking him the questions in front of the reporters, because they're pre-replaced there." Watching this documentary is beyond disturbing. It offers a nauseating effect. As an American, you have to sit there now and think with a new idea, and self-preservingconscience, as to what is really going on. How is so much corruption overlooked in the media, and with no concern within our own political system, which one in term is the bigger of the two evils?

I'm sure there is a flip-side to this argument by the Democratic party; H8owever, the evidence in review, told first-hand by the evildoers themselves, is not in question or being debated, so there is no actual bigger issue for me right now as a voter.

I typically keep my articles on here light-hearted, or sports-related, which is a privilege I have enjoyed. Although, with such serious issues currently in conversations in our country today, I felt the need to offer a more sincere voice this week.

My parents are Republicans, my grandparents Democrats, so I have seen both sides of the coin, and chose for myself many years ago as to where I would stand politically. I am normally very private about my causes, and speak very cautiously of my own personal opinions and viewpoints. So, at the risk of offending not only my Southern readers, but also my very Republican boyfriend, I will be earnest in offering the truth that I am a liberal. I believe that most things are circumstantial and it takes an open mind, and point of view to showcase the best life has to offer in a critical and non-offensive way to any American. Therefore, after saying all that, it is with a heavy heart I must admit that I would rather see a conservative Republican in office like Trump, as opposed to a lying, auspicious, deceiving, liberal Democrat like Hillary. Now consider why that is? Perhaps, I am a weak-minded individual who can be swayed by one documentary. Not! It is because at the end of the day, I, like most Americans, want a just and fair democracy. We learn early on in life and in school that every great idea comes from those with good intentions. The country we have, and the founding fathers it was built upon, offered all Americans the same great freedoms through pure sought-after benevolence. I don't want to be someone who stayed in one line because of many good concepts, no, I'd rather be the one who switched lines because of a really bad one.

Every great college paper always provides a call to action, an idea, or thought that provokes the reader to respond. This week I write this article with that key concept in mind.

So here is my call to action to all of you: look deeper into what we are offered and told by the media. Look for yourselves to see what is and is not. Make an educated decision based on the truth you have sought to implore. Then share that knowledge and truth with everyone around you. Let us, the voters, create our own trickle down effect. Ask yourself this question: "Is it all just an illusion?"

Maybe it is, so let's learn to see through the smoke!

Let's make America great again!

8 Things I Realized After My First Semester In College

Actually, Kylie Jenner, 2018 is the year of realizing things.

The first semester of college is famous for being one of the most difficult transitions of one's young adult life. You're thrown into a completely new area where the majority of the people surrounding you are strangers in an academic environment that's much more challenging then what you've grown accustomed to for the past twelve years. On top of that, you probably share a room with another person (or even multiple people) on the lumpiest "mattress" you've ever slept on.

With this change comes a lot of questions: what do I want to major in? What am I passionate about? Is what I'm passionate about something I'm actually good at? Why does the bathroom smell like cranberry juice and vodka? What is that thing at the bottom of the shower drain?

6 Unrealistic Expectations Society Has For Young Adults

Don't let the thesaurus-inspired vocabularies in our résumés fool you. We're actually just big kids.

Well over four feet tall and 100 pounds in weight, many of us "young adults" of the world still consider ourselves children. Big, working, college-attending, beer-drinking children. We may live on our own, know how to cook noodles, and occasionally use a planner, but don't be fooled; the youthful tendencies that reside within us still make their way into our daily lives. From choosing to stay up until 3:00 a.m. playing video games on a school night to going out in 30 degree weather without a coat, we still make decisions that our parents and grandparents would shake their heads at in disappointment. So why are we expected to know exactly how to be a wise, professional, sensible adult? It's not that we're irresponsible (for the most part, anyway). It's that we are young, inexperienced, and still have the sought-after, enthusiastic mentality that we can do and be whatever we want, which has not yet been tarnished by the reality of the world. These are just a few of the unrealistic expectations that society has for young adults.
