Coffee selection can make or break a person's day. But where is the best place to get a cup of coffee? For a college student, coffee is incredibly necessary for the late nights and early mornings. There has been a silent war between Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts coffee shops for a very long time. But the question that needs to be answered is, who has the best coffee? Here are the reasons why Dunkin Donuts is the best coffee shop on the East Coast.

1. Simple is better.

Nothing is nicer than pulling up to the drive-thru or stepping up to the counter and looking at a simple menu. Sizes are straight forward, asking for milk and sugar is effortless, and ordering is easy when they don't misspell your name - because they don't ask for your names to complicate things.

2. Did someone say cheap?

From a college student's perspective, it is incredibly nice to pay two dollars and a quarter for a medium cup of coffee. The sizes are much larger than Starbucks cups for nearly HALF the price. Dunkin's may be cheap, but you get a delicious cup for a good and fair price.

3. Fresh Donuts and Munchkins!

Did you know that each Dunkin store makes their food fresh that day? Nothing beats their cream filled donuts and glazed munchkins with a warm cup of coffee. It is amazing to know that all of their baked goods were not brought by an outside source only to be heated in the microwave to sit in their little glass displays.

4. Student discount.

The Dunkin down the street from my college campus gives students a 10% off discount when we show them our student ideas. After asking my friends if Starbucks has a special discount for students, it was no surprise that they did not have one!

5. Hash Browns.

Did you say 99 cent hash browns? Something that Dunkins has but Starbucks doesn't is the mouth watering 6 piece hash browns. These are to die for and are paired well with a the endless amounts of sandwiches.

6. It tastes fantastic.

I have been drinking coffee since I was a preteen. Out of these last 8 years of drinking coffee, I have only experienced burnt coffee from Dunkin Donuts about 4 times, and I am a frequent buyer. Out of the 12 times of getting a Starbucks beverage, they have tasted bitter and burnt. Wouldn't want a nice roasted cup of coffee? Dunkin seems to never disappoint its customers with their ability to brew the best coffee around.

7. More coffee/beverage options.

Something that distinguishes Dunkin Donuts from Starbucks is their coolattas. Starbucks might have frappuccinos but a Dunkin's coolatta is a year round beverage that has numerous different flavors and is without a doubt the most refreshing beverage on the menu. Dunkin's menu has over 10 different beverage flavors and an incredible list of beverages that can be found at Starbucks but are made and taste so much better.

8. DD Perks!

Yes, Starbucks might have a rewards app as well, yet DD Perks has actual deals that are added to a user account daily. Nothing is better than reaching 200 points to get a free beverage reward! The app can be used to order on the go, pay, find locations and view rewards. The day you download this app, the day you will find your daily stop at Dunkins is rewarding in the long run!

9. Holiday drinks.

I look forward to the holiday drink flavors every year. Pumpkin spice in the fall, peppermint mocha in the winter, and the endless flavor shots for coffee and hot chocolate is mouth watering just thinking about them. Starbucks does not come close to a number of flavors that Dunkin Donuts provides their customers.

10. Customer Service.

Lastly, customer service is a very important aspect to me. I am in and out of Dunkin because of how fast they serve their customers. More importantly, I always leave Dunkins with a smile on my face and that is exactly what makes Dunkins better than Starbucks. I will always buy my coffee from a personable shop over any other.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
