College Binge Drinking

In college, many student events involve the usage of alcohol, especially college parties. Wherever you go in college there is always going to be an excuse to drink, whether you are stressed, just want to have fun or trying to forget your problems.

The thing is at these parties it is not like they are sipping their drinks nice and easy, they are chugging it down their throats as fast as they can, which is binge drinking. This must be considered to be “attractive” otherwise no one would be doing it.

Girls must find it hot when they see guys just taking one beer after another or doing a keg stand and seeing how long they can stand upside down and gouge beer down without throwing up. It is honestly disgusting. The main thing is, it is understandable coming from guys because you know they like showing off to one another, but why do girls do it? Is it considered hot or something? I don’t understand.

When one goes to a party it is understandable that the individual is going to want to drink. At college parties, they have big water coolers with jungle juice in it, loads of beer and other types of alcohol. Everyone at these parties is holding those famous red solo cups for pictures with friends and to drink. These red solo cups are mostly set up onto a table in a triangular form creating the game Beer Pong. The concept is if the opposite team is throwing a ping pong ball into the red solo cup which has beer in it and goes in, the other team must drink that cup.

But when they drink the cup people normally chug it so the game can continue and one of the teams can win. The thing is with this game it's constant chugging down and not having a break one just keeps going and going up to the point where one throws up. It is the same thing with the game Flip Cup, where one has to chug the beer and then flip the cup in a certain way and the person after them has to wait till the cup is flipped. There is no way to have a break in between drinks, it just keeps going.

These games aren't being played with just guys it is also being played with girls. We have college girls chugging down beer after beer so they can keep up with the guys. But, why do we have to keep up with them or why do they feel obligated to?

I honestly believe that girls feel obligated to binge drink to impress the boys. To show them that they can drink just as much or more than them. Maybe girls think it is actually sexy to drink more than guys and beat them at their own game or they just do it because their friends are doing it. The thing is, it doesn’t matter the reason. Binge drinking is just ugly.

Why?

Girls get out of hand, they will start throwing up everywhere, say crazy things, start to take off their clothes, get into fights and make themselves vulnerable to sexual assault. It is ugly because girls should not be acting like this, I am not saying girls can't drink or have fun, they just should not binge drink up to the point where they pass out.

I have witnessed things when girls chug down beers and vodka and it looks so painful to see them gorge down so much in such little time. Some of them can’t even keep it down and throw up right away. I have witnessed girls passed out on the toilet, throwing up on the floor, is almost unconscious. It is not a pretty sight, so why do it? Does it really get guys attention because for sure as hell it is not attractive to me? I find it gross. Is it attractive to throw up and be unconscious on the floor or toilet?

Is it fun acting like a lunatic? I do not understand the concept of binge drinking for girls, it is not pretty and we should not be doing it. We are supposed to be responsible and let the boys do all the dumb stuff. It may be ugly to me but to some, it could be considered sexy. I just say stick to a couple of drinks and sip them slowly, not chug them down till you puke your brains out. What do you think? Is it attractive when a girl binge drinks?

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
