Is $10 A Month Worth It? The Ipsy Review

So if you’re like me, every month you are anxious to see this little pink, metallic, package in your mailbox. At least, those of us who don’t mind spending $10 a month JUST to get this little pink package. If you don’t know what this is, this is what you get when you subscribe to Ipsy.

Now there are sooo many subscription packages you can get now, ranging from food, all the way to Japanese candy. Crazy huh? This one specifically is a beauty package.

So what is Ipsy? Well to narrow it down to the basics, it is when every month, you receive 5 products, in a mini makeup bag that varies its style every month. It’s fun at first, but the real question is, is it worth it?

For $10 a month, that’s a tricky question. If we break it down into bits and pieces, maybe we can decide. So let’s do just that.

So every month, you receive the cute shiny pink package that sometimes you debate on even throwing away because it is so shiny and pretty. So there’s a hording issue slowly evolving. (LOL) In this package is a small makeup bag, that only fits 5 sample size products. Yes, it is exciting to add to your makeup collection, but you don’t get as lucky as you thought. Based on your answers on the ipsy app or ipsy website, that is how they determine what kind of products they will put in your “Glam bag.” They ask various questions like skin color, all the way to, if you like face masks, etc. It’s a pretty simple process. So once you get the package, there will be 5 products. These products will be some unheard of brands and maybe one or two “high-end” brands. Not very often do you receive the high-end brands. If you do, they are the small sample sizes. Which is such a bummer. But then some of the unheard of brands surprise you which can be good or bad.

Pros:

  • A cute bag (loosely using the word cute”) and 5 products
  • Get unheard of products that could be really good!
  • Try things new

Cons:

  • Can’t skin match before you get what comes in the mail
  • Some products are an absolute bust and can’t return them (that I know of)
  • Can’t pick out what products you want, it is entirely up to the distributors
  • Have to wait a month for products that you may or may not use

TIP: if you are subscribed to ipsy and keep getting products that you are not happy with, make sure you are giving feedback every month about the products you do get. It’s an important factor to the distributors jobs if they know what you have been pleased with and what you have not been pleased with.

So the final verdict, is it worth it? Personally I like it so because I am a college student and my parents have purchased this for me so I can continuously add to my makeup/beauty collection without having to put a dent in my own wallet. However, if you are wanting to purchase this yourself but can afford high-end products on your own. I’d say it’s not worth it. I will continue my subscription because I do keep up with it enough, and do give feedback that I do relatively get products that I enjoy. I also just really love trying new things!

I hope this helped with any kind of skepticism anyone may have when deciding if they want to purchase the subscription from this company!

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Feeling Lost During Syllabus Week? You're Not Alone!

Kourtney Kardashian

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
