Growing up, I might have watched too many scary movies. We all had the basic irrational fears as a kid such as "a monster is going to eat my arm or leg if it hangs off of the bed." Then there were some irrational fears that were unique to only certain people. Here's some of the irrational fears I had a child.

1. A baby head was hiding in my house at night.

Not kidding, I thought using the bathroom in the middle of the night, I thought I would see a giant baby head chasing me.

2. Public pools were housing sharks.

I was terrified of the shark that would never actually be there.

3. If I swallowed any types of seed, I would be a garden!

Every time I ate watermelon, I was afraid of looking pregnant with a watermelon baby.

4. The shower drain and the toilet were both hiding monsters.

Giphy

I was actually really afraid of flushing the toilet mostly but there was also the fear of something crawling out of the drain.

5. Cracking my toe knuckles would break them.

Giphy

I really don't want my toes to be broken, so I never wanted to crack my toes.

6. My blankets would save me if a monster really was in my closet.

Giphy

I don't know what it was but I really thought that monster couldn't get me if I had my blanket over me.

7. Clowns were the worst thing. Ever.

Giphy

I was terrified of clowns and even if the clown didn't look that terrifying, I was scared.

I am still terrified of clowns to be honest.

April Ludgate, historically, is a very annoyed person, and she doesn't hide it. Of all the times that I binged and re-binged "Parks and Rec," her attitude relates more and more to me.

Ask friends of mine to name a quality about me, and one a lot them will point out the fact that I am almost always smiling. I like to laugh and smile -- not to quote Buddy the Elf in April, but smiling is my favorite! It is probably my favorite go-to expression. However, what a lot of people do not see is that I have my down days. I have days when smiling and laughing is a real struggle, or when I have so much on my plate that going out of my way to behappy takes more effort than I have stored in me. Be it a symptom of college and growing up or a facet of life, I cannot always be content.
