Some of you may already know about this, but as I have just found out about it, I thought it was a great topic to share.
According to several sources, the new iPhone to be released later this year, will no longer have the 3.5 mm headphone jack. Wait, what? What will we do? When I first heard about this, I didn't even consider the other options Apple may or may not be offering. I just thought about how common these headphones are. Everyone uses them. Not even just for music anymore. Several people now use the headphones to simply talk on the phone. And let's not forget, that AUX cord we all love in the car.
Many people say we may be listening to our music through Bluetooth or the lightning port (charging port) on our phones. While this could work out, I'm still not sure how well it will benefit the company. A lot of people have invested in very expensive headphones. For example, Beats. While some of these do come with a Bluetooth option, some don't... So what, you're telling me after spending all of that money not even a year ago, I now have to upgrade... just because the new iPhone doesn't support it?
Many other issues can arise from this decision as well. So many companies make tons of money from their headphones, more than anything. As more people invest in the new iPhone, the money that goes into buying these headphones will be eliminated and eventually die out.
While I am always very excited to upgrade the newest and greatest iPhone, this will be a tough one to decide on. It all depends if they really do take the headphone port out. However, because we all know Apple, I'm sure they will still be successful. And they will probably develop some kind of adapter so that we can all still enjoy using our 3.5 mm headphone ports. Here's to hoping, anyways.
