Introverts Experiencing Daydreams

Introverts often spend a lot of time in our head, usually dreaming or thinking. In any type of situation or context, an introvert's mind wanders and I am no exception. Currently writing this article, I am watching "The Martian" starring Matt Damon; therefore most of my daydreams right now are going to a spy-assassin in Middle Earth settings because of the references between "The Martian" and "The Lord of the Rings."

Let's set the scene and dive into the daydream of an introvert. In my daydream, I am a young elf with a bow made from the wood of a Sapling Ent that died. I received the wood as a gift for defending the Sapling Ent from a band of Orcs that somehow managed to control a dozen or so Mirkwood spiders. Although I took out many Orcs and spiders with my willow bow, they eventually overwhelmed me, capturing and holding me for a later time. Before they could start the food preparation, a few hours later three old Ents came to the cries of the dying Sapling. The creatures saw the horrific damage of the Orcs and spiders and my efforts to defeat them. In a gratitude for risking my life, these Ents allowed me to take what was left of their wood and make a bow. This bow was magical, extremely accurate, and could change its own course to hit a target.

Then I snap back to reality as something goes bang in "The Martian." Eventually I drift off into la-la land again thinking about a video game that has settings on Mars. Suffice to say most introverts will experience something like this, some more than others. For example if you're coerced by the family into watching a movie like "the Martian," you'll start thinking about other things on a similar level or with tie-ins. Other introverts will have different levels of what holds their attention and where their minds go.

All introverts daydream about different things. If they like sci-fi. then they likely to daydream of computers, space travel, or nature. Next time if someone asks an introvert a question and they act a little startled, it's likely they just came out of a dream world where they are the hero of their own story.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!

There is nothing quite like family.

Family is kinda like that one ex that you always find yourself running back to (except without all the regret and the angsty breakup texts that come along with it).

No matter how long your class is, there's always time for the mind to wander. Much like taking a shower or trying to fall asleep, sitting in a classroom can be a time when you get some of your best ideas. But, more than likely, you're probably just trying to mentally cope with listening to a boring lecturer drone on and on. Perhaps some of the following Aristotle-esque thoughts have popped into your head during class.

Bob's Burgers
Adult Swim

Bob's Burgers is arguably one of the best and most well-written shows on tv today. That, and it's just plain hilarious. From Louise's crazy antics to Tina's deadpan self-confidence, whether they are planning ways to take over school or craft better burgers, the Belchers know how to have fun. They may not be anywhere close to organized or put together, but they do offer up some wise words once and awhile.

We're in college, none of us actually have anything together. In fact, not having anything together is one of our biggest stressors. However, there's a few little things that we do ever so often that actually make us feel like we have our lives together.

1. Making yourself dinner

And no this does not include ramen or Annie's Mac & Cheese. Making a decent meal for yourself is one of the most adult things you can do living on campus. And the food is much better than it would be at the dining hall.
