Hi, All. My name is Irene.
When I got into college, I declared an accounting major. Then in the middle of my junior year of college, I switched to double majoring in Business Administration and Information Systems. I interned at a marketing company composing handwritten notes and strategies to promote the companies software tool, then made the switch to technology and supply chain where I recently worked as a Project Coordinator where I found out I was more fascinated with analytics, technology, and project management than advertising. For about a year I have been building and developing an app for a mental health platform I co-founded called How Mental Health Connects Us in JavaScript even though I have been constantly bullied for doing it by my family and other people because of my cultural background. I always felt like the "black sheep" of the family because I had a speech delay, but it made me stronger even though sometimes I don't feel accepted and can't be myself around them when I really just want to be my authentic me, however, I get constantly silenced by expressing how I feel. I love learning , coding, using tools such as Power BI, Power Query, Power Automate, Python, JavaScript, HTML and CSS, and the list keeps building. One day I hope to go to grad school to get a Masters in Analytics. The reason that I choose my career path is because I grew up in family who worked in the technology field and also just by my own self discovery of it. Plus, RBG was the reason that so many other women around the world and myself got the opportunity to work in the STEM field because long time ago, you did not see women working in these fields, now that is increasing, but we need to do better. I am concerned about this countries future because I do not feel like it is inclusive right now, but I have hope that it will. I hope to be back working in an industry I am passionate about and love so much soon because not only do I miss it, I love to make technology inclusive, creative, diverse, and collaborative for all people because technology should be that way.
