We're half way there ladies and gents. Part three, and we're rolling strong. M.C.T or Marine Combat Training is the topic at hand today. You'll find that M.C.T is quite similar to bootcamp without all the screaming, and the bullshit... and it's only a month. Per the norm, I'll break it down Barney style and go through, week by week, what life in M.C.T is like. So hold on to your arm chairs and prepare for a helluva article!
Week one, just for fun. Week one, is straight up paperwork and getting settled into a squad bay that you'll move out of for over 2 weeks. The whole purpose of week one is to prepare you for your next two and a half weeks in the field. You also prepare yourself by conducting a 5K hike. This will be one of three you must complete in order to graduate M.C.T.
Week two, just for you. you officially move to the range for a week. You live in hooches or hangar bays for the time. during this week, you will fire everything from the M16A4 to the M240B. Assault rifles to L.M.Gs, what more could you want. Also, prepare to either get no sleep or a lot of sleep depending on the day.
Week three, just for me. This is straight up field. All field, All the time. A week and a half of sleeping in a F.O.B or forward operating base. you complete the other two hikes here as well; a 10K and a 15K hike back to Camp Geiger or Pendleton depending on the coast. This is the final stage, you'll complete a test of everything you've learned such as land navigation, I.E.D detection, close quarter engagements, and room clearings.
Week four, I want some more. You have now arrived at your destination. Just like week one, you do more paperwork only this time, it's to get you out of there and on to your respective schoolhouses which... is the theme for next week! funny, the next training cycle is the theme for the next article. It's weird how that shit works huh? Semper Fi and skate on warriors!
