'Into The Woods' -- An Inside Look At Local Theater
Screen Rant

Theater is a wonderful aversion to everyday life; in the places it has the capability to take people-- and especially in the way it touches lives in every performance. For two hours, you can immerse yourself in music, character, and soul. However, it is not often that a show can take you somewhere you’ve already been… Inside the pages of a seemingly familiar fairytale story--with an epic twist. The show "Into The Woods" provides familiarity in it’s nature, but also a new concept that has been thrilling audiences since its broadway debut in 1987. Director, Jeremy Barson comments on this topic, when he says: “For me, this show is a great one for performers and directors because not only is there a broad range of characters to play with and find different aspects of, but in the end, it’s a look at what it’s like to be human and to want something so badly that you’d go to any lengths to get it-- sometimes going too far-- which is something I think people can relate to, which will make watching the show more enjoyable for the audience.”

Now, it’s come to Bucks County for you to enjoy.

It's showing August 19-20 at Chandler Hall. Be prepared to witness comedy, passion, musical genius, and pure magic at 7 p.m. on both of these dates.

But what truly makes a show special-- what gives the fairytale its magic -- is the cast. The particular group that is performing this show in August, is one that has been performing together for almost six years. As the group has expanded over the years, the talent has expanded as well, creating the true “dream team” for this show. Barson says that “this is one of the most hard working and dedicated groups of people (he) has ever had to work with. Ranging from 12-17 year olds, each actor has experience in both putting up shows in three months, and in less than a week; and in both scenarios, they give their all and put on amazing performances, so bringing them together in such a wonderful, ensemble show has been great.”

And while yes, the “perfect cast” is crucial to putting on any performance, the director is the true vision behind the show. And Jeremy Barson is the true cherry on top of this incredible show. As an actor himself, and a close friend to all in the tight-knit-group, he is able to use his insights to guide the cast to success.

When asked what it’s like to work with some of his best friends from a director’s standpoint he says, “I have acted with almost all of these talented actors before, but stepping into the role of director is something very very different. My performance history helps a lot because I know the lengths of their abilities, and I know what aspects of the characters I can bring out in them. I also like to think that my friend are some of the most talented teens out there; and getting to watch them take on these roles, and work side by side without worrying about my own role, has been a really eye opening experience."

Come out and support this fabulous cast and crew on August 19 and 20!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
