Interview With: Matt Booth
Recently, I got to ask Newburgh, New York singer-songwriter, Matt Booth, some questions. I have gotten to know Matt over the past few years and really respect his work ethic and passion for music. He is a great vocalist with a knack for writing catchy hooks, as well as making others' songs his own, as seen in many of his cover videos.

Q: First off, what is your name and where do you hail from?
A: My name is Matt booth and I was born and raised in Newburgh, NY.
Q: When did you first become intrigued by music?
A: I was 18 when I started getting interested in singing and playing shows.

Q: When did you first begin playing music?
A: I started dabbling with sing at 14 and then around 18 I really started to take it serious.

Q: When you are writing a song, what does your process look like?
A: I usually write in my room or outside, me my guitar and my mind.

Q: Who mixes/masters/produces your music?
A: Maxwell Wrye over at HD productions.I Co produce most of my tracks as well!
Q:Do you come from a musical background?
A: Not really I just picked up singing one day and practiced until I thought it sounded decent, then I took it serious after a few years.

Q: If you could collaborate with one artist, who would they be?
A: Probably Ed Sheeran

Q: How do you set yourself apart as an artist in an oversaturated market?
A:

Q: Which instruments do you play?
A: I play piano, guitar and some bass

Q: In terms of songwriting, who are some of your biggest influences?

A: I don't really look at any specific artists for my writing methods I kind of just go off of life experiences and take in when other people vent to me I write from that as well

Q: Which genre of music would you consider your music?
A: Pop

Q: When writing, does the melody come first, or does the instrumentation?
A: It depends honestly on what you are feeling first it's so random for me but I guess usually the instrumental helps a bit first.
Q:You've released an EP and a good amount of covers, do we expect an LP anytime soon?
A: Yesss eventually but right now I'm sticking to stacking some singles so i have a catalog and can put music out constantly.

Q: What other projects are you involved in right now?
A:
I am in a band called The Cabin Kids we are currently working on a bunch of songs and have some sweet things in the works with writing commercial music for television.
Q:What are your top five favorite albums?
A: "No strings attached" *NSYNC, The Notorious B.I.G., 'Life After Death' , Lil Wayne 'Tha' Carter III' , Justin Bieber "Purpose", John Mayer "Born & Raised"
Q: Where do you see yourself as a musican in ten years?
A: Hopefully living in California writing tons of music for major artists and a lot of music for my self as a solo artist just wanna live the dream.

Q: What is one tip you'd give to aspiring songwriters out there?
A:
Stick to what you believe in and always stay humble no matter what comes your way positive or negative. Write from your heart.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
