My One-On-One With Internet Star Michaela Okland

In This Article:

Michaela Okland is an internet sensation on both Instagram and Twitter. With nearly 100,000 followers on Twitter and nearly 30,000 followers on Instagram, Michaela Okland has love from all over social media. Being an avid user on every social media site possible, I have always been a Michaela stan. Okay, I was a little starstruck when she answered my DM and graciously agreed to answer some questions for me so I could write this article. Anyways, here are the answers I received to the most burning questions you'd want to ask.

How long have you been on Twitter for/How long have you been "Twitter famous"?

"I've been on Twitter since high school, probably like 2013ish. I think I hit 10k followers around late January of 2018 probably but I'm not sure when exactly you cross the realm of 'twitter famous' hahahaha"

Are you friends with the other Twitter-famous that you regularly interact with on Twitter in real life?

"Viking went to ASU where I attend so we've hung out a lot. I've hung out with Kellen, Gracie Hoos, and others. Ellie (Schnitt) and I text every day and FaceTime a lot but we haven't gotten to hang out yet since I haven't made my way to New York the last year, but we plan to once she has a door."

Do you make money off of your twitter account?

"Yes! But that's only been a recent thing."

What are your thoughts on the sudden success of your new Twitter account @SheRatesDogs?

"I'm excited about it! I didn't expect it at all, I thought I was gonna use the account for a few days then get bored but it's passed my personal in followers now and averages about 2,000-3,000 a day"

How do you get inspiration for your content?

"For my personal account it was always just whatever thoughts popped into my head that felt relatable. For SheRatesDogs it's obviously other people's experiences that I think happen to everyone and need to be talked about more. I try to keep that account funny even though a lot of it is also just spreading awareness"

Favorite social media besides Twitter?

"I had Instagram followers before I had Twitter followers, I just don't love it as much! I'd say Instagram because I rarely use Facebook or Snapchat now."

Do you get recognized when you go out?

"If I'm in Arizona. Sometimes it'll be normal like when I'm getting food or at work but other times it's been like in the middle of getting a wax and the girl will say 'so you're that person from twitter right??' And I'm like ah ya glad u know who I am while I'm entirely vulnerable like this"

Do the guys you date follow you on Twitter?

"Hmmm I'd say it's half and half. I don't date a ton but there's been a pretty decent mixture of like they either don't have Twitter at all, they don't really use it, or they're just as active on it as I am."

Thoughts on this upcoming season of The Bachelor? Other Favorite Shows?

"Ugh I love the bachelor and all of its subsequent shows. The Bachelorette is my favorite. So many of the girls are adorable this season I can't wait to turn my brain off for a couple hours every week. My favorite show is Game of Thrones and I'm stoked for that. Also really excited for Stranger Things this year"

 Favorite band/musician currently?

"Ariana Grande stream Sweetener stream Thank U Next"

Now that Halloween is over, it's time to focus on the Holiday Season. Don't get me wrong, I think Thanksgiving is great and can't wait for it, but nothing gives me greater joy than watching Freeform's 25 Days of Christmas, lighting peppermint scented candles, decking the halls, and baking gingerbread cookies. So while we approach the greatest time of the year, let's watch the 15 best Christmas movies of all time.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
