I Really Wish The Internet Never Existed.

The stuff you see in movies can, and does, actually happen.

If I had to think of one thing that I dislike so much, it'd usually take me a while. I've officially decided that it's the internet. It's such a scary place, and recently I've had nothing but bad luck with it. If it wasn't a necessity in my life, I probably would just stop using it altogether.

It really sucks though because even the most reputable websites pose terrible dangers for people. I mean take the Craigslist killer for example. The main problem with the internet is that there's no way to prove who you're talking to. Unless you Skype with the person, how do you know if this person is who they say they are?

Why do we still use this world wide web of destruction?

Maybe what's been going on is just me being careless, too trusting, or maybe I just have a hard time learning from my mistakes. Surely a person can't find out they've been catfished for 8 years and scammed within 9 months. Well friends, I must admit that this is indeed a fact and my life is currently a chaotic mess.

Follow my advice and please be mindful of what you see on the internet. I know this stuff is already common knowledge, but it only takes one little slip and you can end up like me.

If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

I was offered a tutoring job at $50 per hour, 2 times a week, 8 times a month. I'd be making $800 in one month just by tutoring some French Canadian kid. Who wouldn't want to do that?

If an email or text repeats itself, just stop while you're ahead.

The lady who emailed me told me about my prospective payment twice. The first half of the second email was exactly like the first.

For the love of God, don't give out any information.

All it takes is a name and phone number.

And please, don't make deals without speaking to an actual person.

The lady told me she would send me a cashier's check and instructed me to take the $800 plus an additional $30 for her son. She "would give me instructions on how to give it to the nanny". I mean, I was scheduled to see the nanny 2 days a week... Why do I need special instructions?

Ask your friends or family what they think before agreeing to ANYTHING.

I talked to my roommates, and then my aunt.. Only to find out that the same exact thing happened to her. These people turned her life upside down. I mean they hacked into everything, threatened her and her family, and basically made her life a living hell. New bank accounts, new phone numbers, the works.

Always be mindful of the websites you're on and the people you talk to.

I know it sucks, but you can't trust anyone anymore.

Never ever ever ever meet up with someone that you've never spoken to.

Please. Whether it's Tinder or not I don't care. Never meet up with someone in a place that isn't public and don't be ashamed to tell someone where you're going. It could save your life.

Please be careful y'all. I'd hate to see anyone else have to deal with this mess.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?
