Celebrating women everywhere

International Women's Day

In honor of International Women’s Day (which is today), we got to chat with some inspiring female entrepreneurs, business owners and musicians and ask them what it means to take the leap and follow their dreams. Whether it’s putting countless hours into starting their own business or recording an album, each of these women have put in the hard work and determination to succeed, and never give up, even when things get tough. Hats off to you, ladies. You are inspiring in every way! And today, we celebrate all the women out their, hammering away everyday to make a name for herself.

"I have been inspired and amazed by some incredible women who’ve left their mark and paved a way for other women in music. Pursuing my dream as a musician has been the most challenging and yet rewarding thing I’ve ever done. For me, faith and perseverance are key to achieving my goals. I believe that with passion and determination we can make any dream a reality." - country music singer Kaylee Rutland. You can listen to her latest single “Pick Me Up” here.

"As a working mom myself, I founded Kango because I was on a mission to solve the transportation and childcare challenge for working Moms and Dads - and hopefully make their lives easier than my own. However, along the way I discovered that what I'm doing also means something to the people around me. My kids see an example of perseverance, grit and hard work. Girls see that creating a company out of an idea is actually possible, and that technology isn't scary. It's all about taking the shot!" - Sara Schaer, Founder & CEO of Kango (www.kangoapp.co)

“I’m proud to be a female entrepreneur… and for creating a company that makes our clients feel their strength physically and emotionally.” - Jennifer Williams, Founder of Pop Physique (https://www.gilt.com/city/los-angeles/offer/pophysiquelafeb17)

“ I love that being a female musician gives me a platform to express myself. I love the creative control and freedom I have doing what I love. It's very empowering!” - pop music singer Nikki Yanofsky. Listen to her latest single “Miss You When I’m Drunk” here.

“For me, taking on the role of entrepreneur required a steadfast belief in my abilities and vision. Although I had been a part of several startup company teams in the past, assuming all of the responsibility from conception to execution was both a bit daunting and exhilarating at the same time. As a woman, I know I had very strong conviction in other parts of my life, and allowing that to translate to translate to my business was the key.” - Nanci Bergman, Founder & CEO of Accent (www.accent3D.com)

As a woman you should know you have a lot to offer. It's so important to advocate for yourself, your business and the community you serve.” - Dr. Mytien Goldberg, M.D. of Goldberg Plastic Surgery ( https://www.giltcity.com/los-angeles/goldbergplasticsurgerylamar17)

"I just want girls to be confident in themselves. I want girls leaving my concert knowing that they can do anything they set their mind to. That they can be confident and they can achieve anything. You are you and you just need to focus on being the best you can be" - country music singer RaeLynn

"Diana, aka Wonder Woman, is a woman with extraordinary abilities put in very difficult circumstances. Although we aren’t all Amazonian women with a really cool Lasso of Truth, we all have days where we feel like we need to rise above the hurdles that are put in our track. We can all be Wonder Woman, as long as we show the world that we are unstoppable.” - actress and pop singer Laura Marano

"Growing up, Shania Twain and Faith Hill and Martina McBride were my role models. I knew every word to every single song. And I feel like we need a new wave of females to fully support that. Carrie [Underwood] and Miranda [Lambert] have been carrying so much weight and have done such an amazing job with that, but they need some backup. I feel like it’s a really good time for us.

I’m actually amazed at this whole women movement. This Next Women of Country thing is amazing. I feel like it’s such a good time for females right now. It excites me so much. It excites me so much to see fans wanting to hear more from female musicians, hear what we have to say. I think, as a guitar player, there’s not a lot of female guitar players in the genre, and it makes me even more driven.” - country music singer Lindsay Ell

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

eye roll

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"

While this question trend can get annoying, there are a couple of pros to having RBF.

Yify

Another day, another Elle Woods comment. Can’t us blondes get through the day without someone harping at us over the typical stereotypes about who we are? I never understood why a person was judged based upon the hair color they were born with, or the hair color they choose to have (unless you dye your hair blue like Kylie Jenner, I’m still trying to understand why that’s a trend). Nevertheless, as it should be assumed, not everyone is the same. Not all blondes like bright colors and Lilly Pulitzer, and not all blondes claim to identify with Marilyn Monroe. I think the best suggestion to give to people before they make such radical claims is to stop judging a book by its cover. Or in this case, stop judging a blonde by her hair color.
