Recording dreams
Have you ever had such an interesting dream that you wished you could experience it again or show it to others? With all of the advanced technology in our world, we have still not found a way to record or visualize dreams; however, there has been some research that is showing it may be possible in the future.
Color, or black and white?
Most people experience dreams that are in color, however, oddly enough 50 years ago when television was in black and white more people recorded their dreams to be black and white.
REM Dreams
Dreams are most common during the REM stage of sleep (the end of the sleep period), dreams experienced during this sleep stage are more vivid, detailed, memorable, and often the most bizarre. The reason dreams are most common during this stage is because during the REM sleep stage there is almost a complete loss of muscle tone and skeletal muscle activity, it has been speculated that this paralysis is a mechanism to protect the dreamer from injuries if they were to physically act out what they were dreaming.
Dream Incorporation
Outside stimuli such as the covers falling off you or a pet liking your face can be incorporated into the narrative of dream imagery, this phenomenon is known as dream incorporation.
How do you remember dreams?
Everyone dreams every night, if you are woken up during your REM sleep stage you are most likely to remember your dream. Light sleepers tend to remember their dreams more often then deep sleepers and some people never remember dreams regardless of when they are woken up.
Blind people can dream
Blind people indeed to dream, if the person had sight at one point in their life they will still experience visual dreams, however, one who has never had eye sight experiences dreams with sounds, tactile sensations and smells, senses which are often very highly developed in blind people.
