Why We Really Are Interested In The Paranormal

No matter who you are you have seen a scary movie or read a story about ghosts. To most people, ghosts are nothing but a fictional character. Some people, such as myself, believe deeply in a life after the one we are currently living in. A life after this one, or anything similar to that has been long debated by many. Here are some reasons why people, along with myself, are so into the paranormal.

1. The mystery or the factor of the unknown

People are always very interested in the unknown areas of all things. The paranormal is something that is commonly investigated, but there is still no definite answers to the existence of an afterlife. It is a common thought that we are all made of energy, since you cannot destroy energy there has to be something after our current time. It is the mystery that draws me to the paranormal. I want to know what the truth is.

2. The hope of life after death

It is a common feeling in most if not all people that we wish for something after this life. Many religious people believe that there is a heaven and that is where your soul goes after the bodies death. Other religions believe in reincarnation to another form after this life. I am not an overly religious person, but I have hope that after this life there is something. Even if I go to a heaven like a place or if I am a ball of energy, I hope there is something after my current life.

3. The fear of the unknown

As with anything in this life that is unknown, it instills fear into many. Hollywood makes films that are made to scare people that depict spirits or ghosts. There are many other theories that paint in a picture that can be very false. There is a spirit type that can be very dangerous to the living. It is common for poltergeists to torment that person to which it is attached to. These few “bad spirit” types have easily given the paranormal a very fearful element to it.

4. The thrill of the hunt and the mystery

There are many people that go searching for the paranormal every day among the living. Some people of places are more susceptible to the energy of the other life. Many people like Zach Baggins, from the Ghost Adventures crew, spend their lives trying to collect evidence to prove the existence of spirits. It is the thrill of discovering or finding something that is so debated about and so unknown. There is also an aspect of thrill in thinking that there is a way to remain after this life.

5. The Hollywood effect of the paranormal

The paranormal is so much more than what the film industry has portrayed to the masses. Ghosts are not the scary unseen beings that such small children into closets. They have energy for so many things and they also need to commonly use our energy to manifest themselves. Hollywood goes big, meaning that they commonly have the tendency to make ghosts scary and very inaccurate. I commonly find it very hard to watch paranormal films because they over dramatize everything. Knowing your “facts” can take you a very long way.

The paranormal is a very debatable topic that many people may have strong views about it. I myself am very passionate about the fact that there is something after this life, there is something paranormal about the world we live in. I’m not at all sure if it is completely true, but I have had some experiences that I know could only have been done by something unseen or paranormal. Sometimes all it takes to change someone's mind is from them to have an experience of their own. It is easy to fall in love with the true or the film version of the paranormal, whatever you believe to remember, it is your opinion and no one can change that but yourself.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
