This idea for an Instagram update really only applies to certain people: those that take the time to create content for their profile, and people who take beautiful pictures, use relatively good cameras, and want to get their pictures noticed by others.
It's best for people like me: someone who has a photography Instagram, but doesn't focus on one subject.
I take pride in the fact that I'm not a photographer that doesn't just do portraits, or landscapes, or city architecture. I do a little bit of everything. Call me a life photographer. I shoot as I go. So when I upload my pictures to Instagram, they tend to be a bit out of order. Next to my picture of a flower, is a picture of guitarist, which is next to a picture of a light house, and above that is a picture of football players. It's just all over the place. And while I'm completely fine with that, I see other profiles of successful photography Instagram profiles that are so focused on one subject, so it looks VERY aesthetically pleasing.
Here is an example of what I mean:
If you want to talk about specific focuses, this guy is a 'polar expedition photographer'.
But do you see how nice this looks?! Not just the high quality of the photos, but seeing all of those photos together makes it so pleasing to the eye.
So this is what I suggest: that I have the ability to move around my photos on my profile at my leisure. That I can put all my concert photos next to each other, regardless of the dates that I took them. Maybe Instagram can put a notification at the top of my profile, giving a disclaimer that 'this profile is not in chronological order'. I want all my nature photos together, and all my portraits together too. I just want a little bit of organization, post-upload. To resolve this problem, most people upload three photos at a time from the same photoshoot. So that way their profile looks coherent and easy to follow. Plus, since Instagram feeds are now in a non-chronological order, does it even really matter? Isn't this a natural update to come next?
I realize this request is so arbitrary, and who cares?! But I don't know, I just think this would be a cool thing for Instagram to produce.
