Inspiring Quotes

Even though spring break is right around the corner, there is something else lurking in the shadows before it. Midterms. Though you may be daydreaming of sunshine and relaxation, we must get through the dreaded midterms first. Here are some inspiring and empowering quotes to get you in the zone to tackle the rest of your studying.

Work until you no longer have to introduce yourself.
You can go to work, or you can be the boss.
Strive for Progress not Perfection.

I just love bossy women, I could be around them all day. To me, bossy is not a pejorative term at all. It means someone is passionate and engaged and ambitious and doesn’t mind leading.

The Question is not, who is going to let me? But who is going to stop me?

Comparison is a brutal attack on oneself.
He asked me, “what's your favorite position?” I said, “CEO."
Compete with yourself, not with others.

Supporting another's success won't dampen yours.

A successful woman is one who can build a firm foundation with the bricks others have thrown at her.

When you are good at everything, you'll tell everyone. When you are great at it, they’ll tell you.

A woman who does not require validation from anyone is the most feared individual on the planet.

If you want something said, ask a man. If you want something done, ask a woman.

You don’t have to be “pretty.” You don’t owe prettiness to anyone. Not to your boyfriend/spouse/partner, not to your co-workers, especially not to random men on the street. You don’t owe it to your mother, you don’t owe it to your children, you don’t owe it to civilization in general. Prettiness is not a rent you pay for occupying a space marked “female.”

You’ve always had the power my dear, you just had to learn it for yourself.

She needed a hero, so that’s what she became.

Some women are lost in fire, some are built from it.

A flower does not think of competing with the flower next to it, it just blooms.

Admire someone else’s beauty, without questioning your own.
Somewhere, someone else is happy with less than what you have.

Confidence is silent, Insecurities are loud.

Characterize people by their actions, and you will never be fooled by their words.

May the space between where I am and where I want to be, inspire me.

The time will pass anyway. You can either spend it creating the life you want or spend it living a life you don’t want. The choice is yours.
Don’t be busy. Be Productive.

Never let success get to your head. Never let failure get to your heart.

Of this be sure, you do not find the
happy life. You make it.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
