Inspire Yourself, Inspire Others

Many of us are at a point in the semester, or school year in general, for that matter, or plainly just life, where everything is just so difficult to do. Or maybe that is just me. I have been finding myself losing motivation to study, to read, and to exercise, and it is certainly not acceptable. In any case, if you do find yourself in a rut, like me, have no fear, I have compiled a list of quotes to keep you motivated not solely throughout this school term but life in general because it does get difficult, but in the end you can push through anything!

1. "The difference in winning and losing is most often ... not quitting."

When you want to win, you will do anything to get there. Do not quit, you will reach triumph. Only those who quit will not know what winning is. Do you want to be that person?

2. "The big secret in life is that there is no big secret. Whatever goal, you can get there if you're willing to work."

Hard work does pay. Do not let anyone tell you otherwise. If you want to pass this semester, do your homework. Yes, give yourself some leisure time, but when you are done, get back and work for what you want. It is that plain and simple.

3. "Fall seven times, stand up eight."

Every loss leads to a win. You will not lose forever. If you cannot figure out the answer to that math problem, try again. Did not get it a second time? That is totally okay, try a third, and so forth. I know, it will suck, but once you get the answer you will be glad you kept going. This will also be an assistance to getting the answer for the rest of the homework or at least will make things clearer.

4. "Your struggle is just part of your story."

Every struggle you go through makes you, you. Embrace every downfall because they make you stronger. During these, our college years, the struggle is real. This is okay because one day we will tell our stories and we will let others know about our hardships. In these stories that we tell, we will inspire them because if we are able to tell the stories of our struggles, it means that we overcame them.

5. "Do something today that your future self will thank you for."

For me, writing has become essential. I know that all these articles that I write will be the stepping stones to me writing for Nylon, Cosmopolitan, or Vogue. All your actions have a consequence. Make sure to make them positive.

6. "The best is yet to come."

This is straightforward. Keep a positive mindset because the best will arrive shortly. You have to believe it. Brush the negativity aside. I believe in you, now you believe in yourself.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
